Cinderella is a delightful fairytale which will appeal to younger readers,
particularly girls because it tells the tale of a poor, orphaned girl who is
treated abominably by her step-mother and two step-daughters yet
overcomes these hardships to marry the prince.

There are six central characters, the main one being Cinderella who is a
beautiful, kind-hearted young girl, dearly loved by her father who sadly
dies, leaving her at the mercy of her step-mother and two step-sisters.
They make her their servant, forcing her to sleep in the attic. She is
saved, however, by her fairy godmother who enables her to go to the
ball (unbeknown to her step family) where she meets the prince who
instantly falls in love with her. On the stroke of midnight, she must
leave as the magic will end at this time; as she flees, she leaves behind
one glass slipper which the prince finds and vows to find the woman
whose foot it fits.

As with all good fairytales, the prince DOES find her finally, despite the
best efforts of her step-family to thwart him. They marry and live
happily ever after.

I really enjoyed this fairytale and felt different emotions at various

parts: anger at the beginning because of the evilness of her step-family
who should have taken care of her; concern when she was at the ball in
case her evil family found out who she was and punished her then
finally happiness at her finding her prince. I would recommend it for
young girls (3-7 years old).
