evolve your projects, we develop some tutorials to make you record in your
mind how to do a specific topic that you saw in lives or in the e-book. With
that treasure in your hands, you’ll see how can you do something that was
“impossible” to yourself before becoming really easy now.

As always, search for references! Do you remeber that stories where

they describe some big creatures? Sharp teeth, big claws, agressive
appearence...these are some examples of that kind of monsters have
in common.

But we’re not going to draw these beasts...well, I think. Anyway, for
the actual tutorial you’re going to study how to make claws for an-
imals (However, you can make the same process for a monster like
a werewolf, a giant tiger or mythological creature). For those who
already know to how to make, let’s just remember and practice, ok?
After drawing a paw, you’ll do the nails that look like the letter “D” or a
half moon. Pretty simple, right?

However, we want the BIG GUNS, am I right? So you need to make

them look really good. The upper part must be THICKER and the lower
part will be THINNER, don’t forget this! After this, make a division
between the parts and there you go: a Claw! (If you’re drawing frontal-
ly, the claw will be similar to a exclamation point with a little bending
point area;

There’ll be two examples: a black claw and a glowing claw. First,

pick the “Lasso” tool and select the area that you want and paint
with the “Bucket” tool. Now, make some basic shadows and high-
lights on your artwork to start the REAL TUTORIAL! You prob-
ably wouldn’t stop here, right? So make this claw shine baby!

See the difference between an elaborate claw and a base claw? For
now, let’s focus on the shinning claw. First of all, make it dark around
the nail and choose the color for your transformation, then pick a light-
er color to contour the form (On this case, the tip will be brighter);

Apply the same brighter color on the division (bending point ) then
change for white and paint smoothly between the other colors, so
take your time. Make the borders a little bit darker, then change your
brush mode to “Color Dodge” to make it glow! (You can also cre-
ate another layer and change the layer mode instead of brushmode);

Change the brush mode to “Screen” and apply with low opacity
around the claws and even on the floor too..probably they’re touch-
ing it. Keep doing the process until you’re satisfied with the results!

EXTRA: To make your composition even better and realistic, you

can improve it with “battle damage” and reflections that will turn
your artwork into something FANTASTIC! And that’s it, you did it!
