Matilda the Musical: “Matilda the Musical” is a stage production based on Roald Dahl’s novel.

It follows Matilda Wormwood, a brilliant girl with telekinetic powers, as she faces family neglect
and the injustice of Miss Trunchbull, her school’s headmistress. With the help of her teacher,
Miss Honey and her friends, Matilda uses her superpowers to stand up to oppressive adults in
her life.

Plot and Setting:


The story is set in a small, English town, where Matilda’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood, are
neglectful and dismissive of her intellect. Matilda seeks comfort in the local library, where she
reads books and develops a love for storytelling. Her contempt for her family’s ignorance and
cruelty fuels her determination to overcome her circumstances
Matilda’s life takes a turn when she enrols in Crunchem Hall Primary School, run by the
oppressive headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. At school, Matilda befriends her kind-hearted
teacher, Miss Honey, who recognizes Matilda’s exceptional abilities and empathizes with her
difficult life at home. Together, they go on a journey to challenge the oppressive forces at
Crunchem Hall.

Throughout the musical, Matilda uses her telekinetic powers to outsmart and outplay Miss
Trunchbull, taking playful revenge while standing up for herself and her classmates. Her
cleverness and determination inspire other students to rebel against the oppressive school
direction.

As Matilda’s relationship with Miss Honey deepens, it is revealed that Miss Trunchbull is not
only a harsh disciplinarian but also the aunt who mistreated Miss Honey as a child. The
revelation strengthens Matilda’s decision to help Miss Honey regain her childhood home, which
was unfairly taken by her aunt.

The musical sees Matilda confronting Miss Trunchbull in a showdown. Matilda’s telekinetic
powers come into force, and she uses them to expose Miss Trunchbull’s cruelty and trickery,
leading her to her removal as a headmistress.

In the end, Matilda’s parents, realizing their daughter’s brilliance, decided to let her live with
Miss Honey, allowing her to pursue a bright future filled with love and opportunity. The musical
concludes with a heartwarming message about the power of intelligence, and kindness.
Dune (2021): Dune (2021) is a science fiction movie directed by Denis Villeneuve. It follows Paul
Atreides as he navigates political intrigue on the desert planet Arrakis. His family, the Atreides,
take control of the planet’s valuable resource, spice melange leading to conflict with the rival
House Harkonnen.

Theme:
The theme of Dune (2021) revolves around power, destiny, and environmental and political
consequences of resource exploitation. It explores the hero’s journey of Paul Atreides.

Plot and Setting:


The story is set in the year 10191 and centres around the desert planet Arrakis, also known as
Dune, which is the only known source of the spice melange, the most valuable substance in the
whole universe. The spice has incredible properties including extending human life and
enhancing mental and physical abilities.

The main character is Paul Atreides, the young heir to the House Atreides, who moves to
Arrakis with his family, including his father Duke Leto Atreides and his mother Lady Jessica.
Their arrival on Arrakis is part of a political action organized by the emperor to remove House
Harkonnen's control over the spice production and place it under House Atreides.

As the Atreides family takes over Arrakis, they must navigate a dangerous and compound
political landscape. The local population, the Fremen, have a deep connection to the planet and
its desert environment.

Paul begins to experience visions and dreams, as a result of his unique abilities, including
prescience. He becomes fascinated with the Fremen and is drawn to Chani, a Fremen warrior.
Paul’s journey on Arrakis and his interaction with the Fremen lead him to discover his destiny as
a prophesied figure known as the Kwisatz Haderach.

Meanwhile, the movie introduces Baron Vladimir Harkonnen as the ruthless and power-hungry
leader of House Harkonnen, who seeks to regain control of Arrakis and the spice production.
The Baron’s machinations form a significant part of the movie’s conflict. The Harkonnens break
in the Atreid’s ship shield is shut down and they are attacked. The Harkonnen kidnap Lady
Jessica and Paul and they plan to drop them where the sandworms are in Arrakis as they can
end someone’s life, but luckily using their powers they are both able to escape.

Paul and Lady Jessica then go with an airship they found in a safe place, but they are met with a
sandstorm which affects their ship and it crashes luckily, they can escape. They then start to
look for the Fremen so they can spend the night there as it is unsafe to go back to their airship.

When they get in the Fremen’s habitat Paul has to fight a Fremen warrior to prove he is the
Kwisatz Haderach as some people of the Fremen tribe don’t believe in him and for him to prove
he is the Kwisatz Haderach he has to end with the Fremen’s life and he ends up winning it and
he proves that he is the Kwisatz Haderach.
