for the local market.

^03& (a) Mr. Somasiri invested Rs. 270 000 and bought shares in a company at the market price of
Rs. 90 per share. The company pays annual dividends of Rs. 6.

(i) Find the number of shares Mr. Somasiri bought.

(ii) Find the annual dividends income that Mr. Somasiri receives from, this investment.
and represent it as a percentage of the total amount he invested

(b) Mr. Somasiri whose building lies within the limits of a centain provincial council which
charges 6 % from the assessed annual of the property as rates, has to pay quartely rates of
Rs. 2250.

(i) How much Mr. Somasiri has to pay as rates, for a year

(ii) Calculate the assessed annual value of Mr. Somasiri's building.

^02& (a) Mr. Mohomad is a businessman and he has imported 100 000 LED bulbs which cost 48
cents (Rs. 0.48) per bulb. To pay the total amount, he has taken a loan from a certain
financial institute that charges an annual simple interest rate of 12%.
The loan should be repaid in one year. Using the reducing balance method,
calculate the total amount with the interest that Mr. Mohomad should pay at the end of the
year to settle the loan.
(b) At the end of the year, Mr Mohomad has sold all the LED bulbs for Rs 58 000 Calculate
the net profit he has obtained after paying the above loan and the interest.

^03& From a square shaped metal sheet of side length "a" units, a right
angled triangular shaped portion is cut away, as shown in the
figure.
If the area of the remaining protion is 23 square units, show that
the area of the remaining part as a quadratic equation of the form

of 30 days by selling an Anthurium plant for Rs. 450.

Show with reasons whether her expectation is fulfilled.

^05& (a) There are altogether 23 cows and hens in Thushara's Farm. He earns Rs. 200 from a cow
and Rs. 20 from a hen, per day
Accordingly, the total income he earns, is Rs. 1900 per day.
(i) Construct a pair of simultaneous equations, by taking the number of cows as a and the
