Kanye West was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 8,
1977. when Kanye was three, his parents divorced.
Kanye was raised in a poor neighborhood from
Southside Chicago by his mother, Donda West, an English
professor, and spent summers with his father, an award-
winning photographer who became a church counselor.

Kanye’s career as a producer began to grow, and his

beats were enhancing his musical reputation in New
York. Kanye was hired to produce songs for rapper Jay-Z
in his 2001 album The Blueprint. The album sales were
over 420,000 in the first week alone. After, this Kanye
had many well-known rappers interest in his producing
talents. Although, Kanye was doing well, making a name
for himself he wanted to known as more than just a
producer.

Once Kanye Dropped his debut

album, “The College Dropout,”
his career as a rapper
skyrocketed. West earned ten
nominations at the 47th annual
Grammy Awards in early 2005.
The College Dropout won the
Best Rap Album award, “Jesus
Walks” won Best Rap Song, and a
songwriting credit on “You Don’t
Know My Name” for the Best
R&B Song award.
 Career
Kanye has revolutionized the hip hop scene more than
once. With albums that deviated from typical rap themes,
such as Graduation, Jesus is King or Donda, Ye used
techniques from other African American styles, including
gospel music, as well as a great influence on electronic
songs.

The king of samples, Kanye had already iconic singers as

inspiration, like Elton John, Kurt Kobain, Backstreet Boys
and more recently the brazilian Dj Roca e Dj Vitinho Beat.
Whether people like Kanye's personality or not, he still is
one of the most influential people in the world, and best
recognized musically, for his talent, his artistic vision, and
his legacy in rap.

With 21 GRAMMYs, West is one of the top GRAMMY

winners in history, and is tied with Jay Z as the highest-
decorated hip-hop artist. During his career, he won 124
awards from 387 nominations incluinding 2 American
Music Awards, 6 ASCAP Awards, 4 Bilboard Music Awards
and 11 BET hip-hop Awards.
 Polemic Life
Kanye West's personal life has always been surrounded
by controversy and criticism, due to his actions and
speeches. Kanye was extremely attached to his mother
Donda, and after her death in 2007, his life took a drastic
turn as did his behavior.
On the night of September 13, 2009, Kanye West stole the
show when he took the stage and protested an award
received by Taylor Swift. The rapper took the
microphone away from the singer during his speech and
said that Beyoncé should have won the award in the Best
Female Video category, chosen by popular vote.
In 2014, Ye married businesswoman and celebrity Kim
Kardashian, with whom he had 4 children. The marriage
lasted 6 years, but was surrounded by fights and
controversies, due to the couple's disagreement over
their privacy and especially that of their children.

Shortly before his split from Kim,

Disorder and forcibly committed
by the Kardashian family to a
psychiatric hospital. Even after this
event, the singer refused to take
medicinal treatments, believing it
was just a conspiracy against him.
