IMPORTANT: Do not use plastic eyes and buttons if intended for children under 3, this is a
choking hazard. Instead you can embroider them securely using yarn. Close supervision is needed
as small parts/loose ends can be hazardous to children.

Tips and Tricks

Yarn and colours:
Natura 100% cotton yarn from DMC,

• Colour A (Skin): 15g

• Colour B (Body): 10g
• Colour C (Hair): 5g
• Colour D (Hat): 10g
• Colour E (Leaves): 5g
• Colour F (Belt): 1g
• 3 strands of black yarn or embroidery thread;
scrap (for mouth)

The colour section is set up this way to give you creative freedom, use the
same colour for multiple sections or a different colour for each.

 Once you have finished each section, keep in mind to leave a long tail so that you can
weave it in afterwards or use it to sew pieces together.
 It is important to use the same yarn throughout the pattern, or you might risk having sec-
tions in different sizes.
 Working with cotton yarn is recommended so that your project keeps its shape. However, it
is easier to see large holes when using cotton yarn. To avoid this, you can keep your tension
slightly tighter or/and work with a slightly smaller hook.
 This pattern is worked in a continuous round unless otherwise specified.

Stem

To make the stem, we will need to use a cord stitch. (Using colour D) : Measure out a piece of yarn
3 x the length of your crochet hook (about 45cm, 18 inches. If you’re using larger yarn then you
would need a longer piece), cut it off and fold it in half.
