The Cock-of-the-Rock, also known as "Tunki" in Quechua,

is a colorful bird found in the tropical Andes of Peru,

Ecuador, Bolivia, and Colombia. Its bright orange feathers
and distinctive crest make it stand out in its forest habitat.

These birds prefer living in humid mountain forests and

rocky areas. They are known for their social behavior and
unique mating rituals, where males gather in groups to
display their feathers and attract females.

The Cock-of-the-Rock is important in Andean culture,

symbolizing beauty and strength. However, it is at risk due
to deforestation and illegal hunting. Conservation efforts,
like creating protected areas and educating qcommunities,
are crucial for their survival. Collaboration between
governments and organizations is needed to protect this
iconic species and its habitat.
