Since the article is about Rizal's life and career and places an emphasis on nationalism, bravery, and how Rizal came to be hailed as a National Hero, it is relevant to our lesson.
How does it develop and/or promote nationalism to you?
It encourages nationalism since Rizal, stands up for the rights of Filipinos because he can identify with their situation under the Spanish Regime. They organized themselves into a group and moved as a unit to defeat the Spaniards. This promotes nationalism because they gave our regional tongues, like Tagalog, priority.
How does it develop and/or promote patriotism to you?
It inspires me to defend the democracy that Rizal fought for in the past and to work in the best interests of the entire country. This shows how much he cares for his country and his fellow Filipinos.
How does it develop and/or promote volunteerism to you?
It motivates me to offer my services at times of need for our country that are associated with our right to democratic freedom, which aids in the growth of my volunteerism. Although writing this literature is dangerous, so he is prepared to take it on in order to help Filipinos. He gave us fresh perspectives and encouraged us to go beyond the obvious.
