SCHOOL PLAN

What’s the problem?
In our school, we create a lot of trash at
lunchtime. Most children bring their lunch to
school, and they use a lot of plastic bottles,
drinks cans, snack packages, etc. This means we
throw away a lot of paper and plastic.
What can we do?
We can use reusable drink bottles. They’re a bit
more expensive to buy than single-use bottles,
but they’re much better for the environment.
And you can use the same bottle every day, so in
a few months you save a lot of money.
We can stop putting our sandwiches in plastic
bags. We can use paper bags, or special
washable bags that we can wash after we use
them. They aren’t as easy to use as plastic, but
they’re a lot better for the environment.
Instead of buying small packages of cookies for
snacks, we can buy one big package and bring
a few cookies to school each day. That way, we
buy less packaging.
How can these ideas help?
These are small things, and they
don’t need much effort. But
when we all do them we
can make a big difference.
