INSPECT BLOWER WITH FAN MOTOR ASSEMBLY

a. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and negative (-) lead to
terminal 1. Check that the motor operates smoothly.
If the result is not as specified, replace the blower with fan motor sub-assembly.

BLOWER RESISTOR

1. INSPECT BLOWER RESISTOR

a. Measure the resistance of the blower resistor.

Standard resistance:
Tester Connection Specified Condition
1-2 1.45 to 1.67 Ω
1-3 0.52 to 0.60 Ω
1-4 3.12 to 3.60 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the blower resistor.

1. INSPECT QUICK HEATER AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY

a. Measure the resistance of the heater assembly.

Standard resistance:
Tester Specified

Connection Condition
23 to 25°C (73
A-1 - B-1 0.5 to 2.5 Ω
to 77°F)
23 to 25°C (73
A-2 - B-1 0.5 to 2.5 Ω

23 to 25°C (73
A-2 - B-2 0.5 to 2.5 Ω
to 77°F)
23 to 25°C (73
A-3 - B-2 0.5 to 2.5 Ω
to 77°F)

If the result is not as specified, replace the heater assembly.

1. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING PRESSURE SWITCH

a. Disconnect the connector.

b. Using a service wire, connect terminals 1 and 2 of the pressure switch connector on
the vehicle wire harness side.

c. Start the engine.

d. Turn the A/C switch ON and check that the magnet clutch turns ON.

e. Check that the magnet clutch turns OFF when disconnecting terminals 1 and 2.

OK:
Measurement Condition Specified Condition
Terminals 1 and 2 Magnet clutch turns
connected ON
Terminals 1 and 2 Magnet clutch turns
disconnected OFF

If the result is not as specified, replace the pressure switch.

1. INSPECT A/C SWITCH
Using an electrical tester, check if the diodes are functioning normally.

HINT:

 As the switch has diodes, resistance inspection cannot be performed. Use the tester's diodes
check function to check the diodes.
 Connect the tester's leads as shown in the table below. If the leads are not connected
correctly, the readings will not be accurate. Connect the tester's positive (+) lead to the
diode's positive (+) side, and the negative (-) lead to the diode's negative (-) side.

iii. Set the function selector switch to diode check function mode, and check that the diodes are
functioning normally.

Reference voltage (diode check function mode):

HINT:
*: The initial value is the voltage displayed when the tester is in diode check function mode and the
tester's leads are not connected.

b. Apply battery voltage to the switch connector and check that the indicator light illuminates.

OK:

HINT:
When the battery's negative (-) lead is applied to terminal 6 and the positive (+) lead is applied to
terminal 4, the indicator light does not illuminate.

c. Apply battery voltage to the switch connector and check that the illumination
light illuminates.

OK:

If the result is not as specified, replace the bulb or switch.
1. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY

a. Measure the resistance of the blower switch.

Standard resistance:

M2 1-5-6 Below 1 Ω
M2 - HI 1-4-5-6 Below 1 Ω
HI 4-5-6 Below 1 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the A/C control.

b. Inspect illuminations.
i. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 8 and negative (-) lead to
terminal 3. Check that the bulbs illuminate.
If a bulb does not illuminate, replace it.
