AGRICULTURAL MARKETING

Agricultural marketing system is an efficient way by which the farmers can dispose their surplus
produce at a fair and reasonable price.
Improvement in the condition of farmers and their agriculture depends to a large extent on the
elaborate arrangements of agricultural marketing.
Agricultural marketing include all those activities which are mostly related to procurement,
grading, transporting and selling of the agricultural produce.

 Establishment of co-operative marketing societies.
 Establishment of regulated markets.
 Extension and construction of additional storage and warehousing facilities for
agricultural produce of the farmers.
 Availability of adequate amount of credit facilities to the farmers.
 Timely supply of marketing information to the farmers.
 Expansion of market yards and other allied facilities for new and existing markets.
 Improvement and extension of road and transportation facilities for connecting the
village with mandis.
 Provision for standardization and grading of the produce for ensuring good quality to the
consumers and better prices for the farmers.
 Formulating suitable agricultural price policy by the government.

e-NAM
e-National Agricultural Market is a pan India electronic trading portal which nets the prevailing
Agricultural Produce Market Commodities (APMC) for making a united national market for
agricultural commodities.
It was launched on April 2016.

 The e-NAM project would operate via the online portal that is linked to the state mandis
(wholesale markets).
 All the participating states will be providing the software (website and mobile
application) for e-NAM at no cost.
