Telcel NR NSA Solution
Telcel 5G NSA RAN Solution
1. Telcel first phase of 5G RAN solution will be based on NSA Option 3x, where 4G core
network will be used and LTE B7 will be anchor frequency
• Control plane will ne handled by eNB
• User Plane will be mainly handled by gNB, however eNB will be able to process it as well
• gNB will determine whether to offload traffic from eNB or from the gNb based on the air
interface quality and RLC buffer of the LTE/5G. EPC+
Control plane
2. 64T64R, 32T32R and 8T8R Massive MIMO will be deployed depending on traffic User plane
scenarios. S1 S1

Telcel 5G NSA RAN gNB
❑ General principles:
• New BBU5900 is added for 5G NSA
• UBBPg3b as NR base band board considered for initial deployment of 3x100MHz in Band C. It can support NR FDD in the same board.
• UBBPg3a can be considered for future expansions when Telcel deploys additional spectrum for 5G, including mmWave.

Two BBUs Scenario in 5G Site
When BBU 5900 is added to an existing BBU3900, then interconnection of two BBUs is necessary
13 Huawei Confidential
5G BBU 5900 Layout Scenarios 1/2
All 5G sites consider 4G modernization, as 4G will be hosted in same BBU as 5G
▪ Co-MPT mode is implemented, that means one UMPT board in the BBU used for all deployed
technologies
▪ From O&M Perspective, a Co-MPT base station is identified in the U2020 as one single site with one

Temporary Power Distribution Solution DCDU for 5G Sites
• AAU5639w, AAU5339w and RRU5258 are high power AAU that will require DCDU16D-02
• It is considered that all 5G sites will be equipped with MTS cabinet and BoostLi Lithium batteries,
providing 57 constant VDC to power AAUs/RRUs
• Depending on the distance from DCDU to AAU/RRU, different cable size will be deployed:
• * RRU5258 will require one OCB in RRU side to interconnect AWG5 and AWG8 cables:
120-240 mts 1 mts
DCDU OCB RRU

• For longer distances as indicated in previous table, it is recommended to implement a DPU40D/DBU20B solution
(see next slide)

RRU Power Cable (distances over 200-240 mts)
• Distances over 210 meters between DCDU and AAU/RRU cannot use a direct power cable solution.
• An independent AC power connection must be implemented in remote RRU with Distributed Power/Battery Unit
