I attended the seminar about probation initially thinking that I already had sufficient knowledge about it.

And yet, I was still hoping that I would learn a bit more. Yes, the thirst for knowledge is always looking to
be quenched. And that’s exactly what happened to me as everything that I have hoped for has come to
fruition and all my expectations were met.

But let me start off with the speaker first. The speaker was undoubtedly excellent. He had a great deal of
knowledge about the subject. The facts and details were presented in a very organized manner and the
way he delivered them was very clear and concise. He presented everything comprehensively and yet,
he did not overload my brain with information. He made everything about the subject very simple and
easy to understand and I was able to learn all that I needed to learn in the seminar thanks to him. He
had me listening all throughout and I never felt sleepy throughout the whole time. He was concise and
effective and managed to get his point across to me and the rest of the audience. I will go on record by
saying that he was one of the best resource speakers I have ever had the privilege to listen to and I
certainly hope he will be discussing in front of us again.

Now let’s go to the meat of the matter – the subject itself. I will say that my knowledge about probation
was greatly enhanced. I entered the venue where the seminar was being held knowing, or so I thought, I
had sufficient knowledge about probation only to realize that what I knew was not enough. The subject
and all its details, basics, rudiments, and the process were presented to me in a comprehensive yet
straightforward manner, so much so that it was a cinch for me to understand and absorb all that was
discussed. Learning about probation is crucial and would definitely be extremely vital if my career path
takes me to penology. As it is now, I now know when a convicted defendant must apply for probation
and what conditions from the court he must comply with once it is granted lest he will be serving his
original sentence. I was also able to learn the period of probation of a convicted defendant as well as
what qualifies him to apply for such. Among other things that I have learned in this seminar are the
consequences of violating probation and what would cause the court to revoke it and make the
convicted defendant serve his original sentence. With all of this knowledge that I have gained, I am fully
confident that I will be able to apply all of these once my future career in law enforcement gets going.

I know for a fact that I had little knowledge about probation before this seminar even started. And I am
thankful I have gained a lot after completing it. My sincerest thanks to our beloved university CVSU for
making this seminar on probation possible.
