QUESTION 1
In the diagram below, A(2; 6) and C(6; -2) are the vertices of ∆ABC. The equation of BC is
2𝑦 + 𝑥 = 10. The x-intercept of BC is at P and AC is at Q.

1.1 Calculate:

1.1.1 The coordinates of M, the midpoint of AC. (2)

1.1.2 The gradient of AC. (2)

1.1.3 The equation of the perpendicular bisector of AC. (3)

1.2 Determine whether point E(6; 3) lies on the equation in 1.1.3 (3)

1.3 Determine the equation of the line AC. (2)

1.4 Determine the coordinates of point P. (2)

1.5 If it is further given that B(−2; 2). Calculate the coordinates of D, which is in the first (4)
quadrant and ABCD is a parallelogram.

QUESTION 2
In the diagram below, R and S are the x- and y- intercepts respectively of a straight-line SR.
1
The equation of SR is 𝑦 = − 3 𝑥 + 6. Other straight line cuts y-axis at Q(0; 2) and passes
through the points M(t; 0) and N(3; 4). 𝛼 and 𝛽 are the angles of inclination of the lines MN
and SR respectively.

2.1 Given that M, Q and N are collinear points. Calculate the value of t. (3)
2.2 Determine the size of 𝜃, the obtuse angle between the two lines. (5)
2.3 Calculate the length of MR. (3)
2.4 Calculate the area of ∆MNR. (3)

5.1.2 The value of x, leaving your answer in simplest form. (5)
5.2 In the diagram below, O is the centre of the circle. ABCD are points on the
circumference of the circle. OD // AB and AO ̂ B = 540 .
