WHY ARON DESERVES THIS AWARD

Filipinos are known for being resilient. According to Dieter Uchtdorf, “It’s your reaction
to adversity, not adversity itself that determines how your life’s story will develop.” So, here’s
another story of resiliency! John Aron Gallo is the youngest son among nine children of Mr.
Alberto and Mrs. Nerlyn Gallo. Their life is never easy. His father has no stable job. He is a
carpenter and sometimes accepts sidelines in different construction services offered to him. Her
mother on the other hand, is an ideal housewife. Running family errands, looking after the
children, doing household chores, and the likes. Recently, Aron’s mother was hailed as Purok
President. Even so, just like other families, they also experienced many challenges. One of
Aron’s brothers is a person with a disability. Like every household, they have numerous needs,
such as: food, clothing, medications, education, and so on. Sometimes, they have enough for the
family, but most of the time, they are struggling financially.

Aron is just like other ordinary students, he was not born gifted, but because of his
perseverance, hard work, and dedication he succeeded in becoming one. He once sailed,
lingered; and now continues sailing on the waves of life. I believed his resiliency enabled him to
overcome his challenges. In fact, Aron’s academic achievements were commendable. His grade
school was remarkable. He was one of the top performing pupils. Even in his Junior High school
he was responsible for his studies and consistently bagged academic excellence awards.
Moreover, Aron's role as a loving and respectful son, a dependable friend, and a
responsible citizen further highlights his outstanding character. His leadership qualities and
positive outlook on life not only contribute to his personal success but also inspire those around
him.
In essence, Aron's resilience, hard work, and positive attributes make him a truly
deserving recipient of the AY Foundation Award. He is a testament to the Filipino spirit of
overcoming challenges and thriving despite adversity.
