Identify three (3) plans among the sustainable goals of the UN in relation to gender equality and discuss each

according to your understanding. (10 points each item)

1. Gender Equality

One of the key plans among the SDGs of the UN in relation to gender equality is Goal 5, which
focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. This goal includes targets
such as ending all forms of discrimination against women and girls, eliminating all forms of violence
against women and girls, ensuring equal participation and opportunities for leadership at all levels of
decision-making, and ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights. This goal
is crucial for promoting gender equality and empowerment around the world. By addressing issues
such as discrimination, violence, and lack of access to healthcare, education, and economic
opportunities, Goal 5 can help to create a more just and equal society for all individuals. Achieving this
goal will require concerted efforts from governments, civil society, and the private sector to implement
policies and programs that promote gender equality and empower women and girls.

2. Decent Work and Economic Growth

Another important plan among the SDGs of the UN in relation to gender equality is Goal 8,
which focuses on promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive
employment, and decent work for all. This goal includes targets such as promoting policies that support
decent work for all, ensuring equal pay for equal work, and protecting labor rights for ALL workers.
Promoting decent work and economic opportunities for women and girls is essential for achieving
gender equality and sustainable development. By ensuring equal pay, protecting labor rights, and
promoting inclusive economic growth, Goal 8 can help to create a more equitable and prosperous
society for all individuals. Achieving this goal will require governments, businesses, and other
stakeholders to work together to implement policies and programs that support economic
empowerment and promote gender equality in the workplace.

3. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Lastly, Goal 16 of the SDGs focuses on promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for
sustainable development, providing access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable, and
inclusive institutions at all levels. This goal includes targets such as reducing violence and conflict,
promoting the rule of law and access to justice, and ensuring transparent and accountable governance
for all individuals, regardless of gender. Achieving peace, justice, and effective governance is essential
for promoting gender equality. By reducing violence and conflict, promoting access to justice, and
building accountable institutions, Goal 16 can help to create a more just and peaceful society for all
individuals. Achieving this goal will require strong political will, investment in conflict prevention and
resolution, and promotion of gender-sensitive policies and programs.
