DICUSSION “FAST FOOD”

Moderator: Good afternoon and welcome to our debate this afternoon which will discuss the
topic of fast food. As the moderator, I will facilitate this discussion between two teams with
different views. Here, we have a Pro Fast Food Team who will support the benefits of fast
food, and a Cons Fast Food Team who will discuss its negative impacts. Let’s start.
Pro Fast Food Team Speaker: Thank you, moderator. Fast food is a practical and efficient
solution for many people in this modern era. With its availability and speed of serving, fast
food helps people who have busy schedules to meet their nutritional needs.
Counter Fast Food Team Speaker: 1 understand the argument, but we must not ignore the
Negative impacts caused by fast food consumption. The high content of salt, sugar and
saturated fat in fast food can increase the risk of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes
and heart disease.
Pro Fast Food Team Speaker: But let’s look at the price side. Fast food is often more
affordable than healthy food at restaurants or buying ingredients to cook at home. This helps
people from all walks of life to keep their nutritional needs met.
Fast Food Counter Team Speaker: It’s true that fast food can be affordable, but do we
consider the long-term costs? High health costs due to obesity-related diseases and other
illnesses far outweigh the initial outlay for healthy food.
Pro Fast Food Team Speaker: Fast food is popular among young people because of the many
new innovations produced by fast food traders. Young people are often bored with the same
food, new innovations can attract the desire to buy.
Fast Food Counter Team Speaker: The fast food industry can cause negative environmental
impacts through excessive use of single-use packaging and waste production.
Neutral Team Speaker: It’s true, there are many positive impacts and negative impacts of fast
food. We may occasionally consume fast food or even during an emergency. But fast food is
not recommended for long-term consumption, considering the many negative impacts it
causes.
Moderator: Once again, thank you to both teams for their contributions to this debate. It’s
important to remember that debates like this help us better understand a complex issue like
fast food. We hope you all gained valuable insights from this discussion. See you in the next
debate!
