A Psycholinguistic Analysis on Speech Error Made by Former Vice President of

America Mike Pence During Interview in PBS News Hour

The purpose of this study is to find out the types and the causes of speech errors made by
former Vice President of America Mike Pence during interview in PBS News Hour. The type
of this research is qualitative. The data of this research is in the form of words, phrases and
sentences that contain speech errors made by former Vice President of America Mike Pence
during interview in PBS News Hour. The source of data is a video between Judy Woodruff
and Mike Pence which downloaded from PBS News Hour with a duration of 18 minutes and
47 seconds. The data will be collected through stages: finding out and determining,
classifying and separating the words, phrases and sentences that contain speech errors made
by Mike Pence. In this study, the researcher uses Clark & Clark’s theory. The purpose of
using Clark & Clark’s theory is to find out more about the types and causes of speech error.
