Take a tour of Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is the monarchs’ main royal residence and it is situated in London. Queen Victoria decided to renovate it in 1837. One of its
most famous features1 is the balcony at the front of the palace. This is where the royal family often get together for the Trooping of the Colour. It
is also used to celebrate special occasions such as royal weddings. The palace has 775 rooms. These rooms include 19 state rooms, 52 royal and
guest bedrooms, 92 offices, 78 bathrooms, and 188 bedrooms for the staff2.
One of the most famous rooms is the Private Audience Room. It is an amazing room where the Queen greets her guests. You can see Her
Majesty’s family photographs on the pale blue walls. It is a bit more modern than most of the other rooms. The Regency Room is where the
Queen gives her Christmas speech3. It’s a beautiful room, decorated in green and gold. It has got sofas, a desk and a traditional fireplace. Another
big attraction are the gardens. Every year the Queen invites more than 30,000 guests to her summer garden parties.
In the summer the palace is open to the public. Visitors can walk through 19 of the State Rooms and also explore the Palace gardens. So, if you
are curious about the official royal residence, you know when to go.
