November 2017 to January 2018, Coordination and External Partnerships Officer (P3)
World Food Program, South Sudan
I supported the WFP Country Director through the participation in inter-agency cluster
meetings and preparation of briefings and talking points that assisted in high-level and
senior management meetings.
I supervised and coordinated the work of five Social Workers working on the frontline
with Palestine refugees from Syria (PRS) who sought refuge in Jordan because of the
conflict. I also briefed donors on protection status of Palestine refugees from Syria in
Jordan and provided input to briefs, submissions and reports to Front Office.
I supported the work of the HC and contributed to the preparation of various written
documents, e.g. background papers, speeches, talking points, and humanitarian
appeals. I also organized and contributed to the organization successful high-level
meetings (UN Agencies, Donors Consultation Meetings, etc.), seminars, conferences,
and workshops with other agencies and partners to facilitate exchanges of professional
expertise and views on specific humanitarian-related issues; served as reporter to some
of the events.
As the protection focal point for PRS in the Beqaa area: I (i) conducted ad hoc interviews
to gather information on needs and protection concerns, (ii) referrals of PRS seeking
services from UNRWA and other humanitarian agencies (this involved answering
questions on border-related issues, visas and birth/marriage registrations, health,
education and recording and making the appropriate referrals within UNRWA and to
other humanitarian partners), and (iii) visited families and carried out assessments. I also
improved coordination between UNRWA and Agencies at the Beqaa level through
active participation in cluster and inter-agency meetings in Beqaa Area, Lebanon.
I enhanced university relations with the media, prepared press releases in Arabic and
English for the UAE media, and worked on the university's internal publications and
website.
