How do I register?

• MUET registration is online.


• Candidates can surf MEC's portal
http://www.mpm.edu.my or http://online.mpm.edu.my
to know the process and method to register for MUET.
• Candidates can register through their schools or
institutions.
How do I check my registration status?

Candidates can check the registration status


through the MEC's portal http://www.mpm.edu.my
or SMS MUET INFO space [identity card number]
and send to 15888. The date to check the status of
registration can be obtained from MEC portal

Guideline for Registration
(Private Candidates)
Test Dates (MUET)

• MUET administered 3 times a year and the


sessions are named MUET Session 1,
MUET Session 2 and MUET Session 3
• The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are
taken on the same day, but the Speaking test is
taken at times spread over a duration of two
weeks.
Test Dates (MoD)

• The Malaysian Examination Council(MEC)


also administers MUET on Demand (MoD)
• MoD, all four components are taken on the
same day, depending on the number of
candidates and subject to the availability of
rooms for the Speaking test

MoD has two types


-Computer Based Test
-Paper Based Test
SPEAKING TEST OPTION (MoD)
-Candidates now may sit for Speaking Test via
Face-to-Face or Online.

Note: Speaking Test Online will be held (one week


before) the Written Test.

small groups in both more formal and less formal
academic contexts.
- Possible areas include but are not limited to people
and culture, financial awareness and consumerism,
science and technology, health and environment, and
education.

- The test tasks are intended to be accessible to test
takers, so that they will be able to draw on their
knowledge or understanding of real world settings.

Skimming and Scanning
• Reading techniques that use rapid eye
movement and keywords to move quickly through
text.
• Prevents from inefficient reading habits such as
reading word by word, reading aloud, translating,
reading for detail

Skimming is reading rapidly in order to get a general overview of the
material.

Effective reading with skimming:


• The main headings are of the most essential, don’t forget to read them.
• Tables and charts have headings and they are there for good reasons
• Along with skimming process, underline or highlight important words and
phrases.
• Read the first sentence and last ones of each paragraph. These
sentences usually can be topic sentences that hold main idea.

Scanning
Scanning is reading rapidly in order to find specific facts. When you
already know what you want to look for.
- Search keywords
- Less reading, more searching

Effective reading with scanning:


• Use a finger of your hand to scan, a helpful way to stay focused.
• When you come across a keyword while scanning, stop and carefully
read the surrounding text. Note them down to review later and see if this
information needs noticing.
