Q1. Define Word Processor.


Ans. A word processor is software or a device that allows users to create, edit, and
print documents. It enables you to write text, store it electronically, display it on a
screen, modify it by entering commands and characters from the keyboard, and print it.

Q2. Name different softwares available for word processing.


Ans. Ms Word, Notepad, Wordpad, OpenOffice Writer, LibreOffice Writer, Google
Docs

Q3. Explain features of Word Processor. (any four)


Ans. Features of Word Processor are as follows:
i. Ease and Speed – A word processor provides an easier and faster method to
type the text.

ii. Editing Features – We can apply editing features like copying, moving, and
deleting text. We can overwrite or insert a sentence, paragraph or word. Page
numbers, headers, and footers can also be inserted.

iii. Formatting Features -Word processing software provides various formatting


features for text such as Bold, Italics, Underline, Font Name, Font Colour,
WordArt, etc.

iv. Storage Features – It allows to store our documents for future use.

v. Graphic Features – We can add pictures, drawings, images, diagrams and


charts, etc., to our documents. This enhances the overall appearance of a
document.

vi. Printing Features – We can easily take printouts of our documents. Most Word
processor have the feature of WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get)
,i.e., a document on our screen will look exactly similar to its printed version.

vii. Vocabulary and Spell Check Feature – We can keep our document error free
with the help of Spell Check feature.

viii. Mail Merge Feature - This feature helps in sending the information to multiple
addresses.

ix. OLE Feature – In Word Processor, there is Object Linking and Embedding
feature that helps to link or embed various objects in a documents from other
applications. These objects can be charts, equations, cliparts, pictures, ect.

Q5. Write difference between a text editor and a word processor software.
Ans. Differences are :
