SYLLABUS ENGLISH CLUB

For: BM WINDOWS FACTORIES


Date: 23/03/2024 Time: 09:00 – 11:00 am
Place: BM Windows’ Binh Duong 1 Factory
Teacher: Mr. Drake
Students: 17 people

 Notes: This syllabus is for reference only; we hope Mr. Drake will make appropriate
adjustments.
ACTIVITY 1 – GET TO KNOW YOU (20min)
How to play:

- Write a note: Take 5 minutes to write a brief description of the person sitting to your left.
Include details you learned (name, age, job, family, hobbies, strengths, weaknesses, or anything
relevant).
- Relay race: Once everyone's done, the first person reads their note about the person to their left.
That person then reads their note about the next person, and so on, until everyone's note is read
aloud!
- The teacher will give feedbacks on the introductions and share tips on how to describe someone
effectively.
ACTIVITY 2 – CATCH THE WORDS (20min)
How to play:

- Divide into teams: Split the players into 4 teams.


- Choose turns: Decide which team goes first (by “Rock Scissor Paper” or taking turns).
- Picture and hint: Show the team a picture illustration and a hint for a vocabulary word.
- Discussion: Team members discuss and come up with an answer.
- Correct guess: If the team guesses the vocabulary word correctly, they score a point.
The team that guesses the most vocabulary words in the allotted time wins.

ACTIVITY 3 – ROLE PLAY (40min)


Factory Tour Role Play: English Version!
Scenario:
Customers are visiting the factory to learn about the products and manufacturing process.
Instructions:
Divide students into 4 groups, each representing a different department in the factory:
Group 1: Reception
 Greet the customers and introduce yourself.
 Guide the customers to the waiting room.
 Offer tea and snacks.

Group 2: Factory Overview


 Introduce the 4 factories.
 Provide details about Binh Duong 1 Factory: establishment date, area, production
capacity, engineers, and workers.
Group 3: Showroom
 Showcase the different types of doors: Entrance doors; Unitised doors; Sliding doors.
Group 4: Manufacturing Process
 Explain the following steps: HSGC; Material issuing; Cutting; Assembly; Gluing;
Finishing and inspection; Packing and shipping.
Mr. Drake and EC Team: Customers
 Prepare questions to ask each group.
Role Play:
Each group will guide us through the Factory and performs their assigned role based on the given
scenario. Mr. Drake and EC Team interact with each group, asking questions and engaging in
conversation.

ACTIVITY 4 – DEBATE (40min)


How to play:
Debate Club: Factory Edition!
Get Ready to Debate!
Choosing a Topic:
1. Divide into Teams: Form two teams – Pro and Con.
2. Rock, Paper, Scissors: Play a quick game to see who gets to choose!
3. Pick Your Battleground: The winning team gets to select a debate topic (see some options below)
and choose whether they want to be Pro (support) or Con (oppose).
Debate Topics: (Choose one)
 Automation vs. Upskilling: Should factories prioritize automation or upskilling their workforce?
 Speed vs. Quality: Should factories prioritize speed or quality (make things perfect) in production?
 Internet Monitoring: Is it okay for the factory to track your online activity/ internet usage?
 Soft Skills vs. Hard Skills: Which skills matter more for success at work? communication and
teamwork, etc. or technical/ professional knowledge?
The Debate Round:
Pro Makes a Case: Team Pro starts by presenting their arguments. Each member can take turns
sharing their points.
Con Fires Back: After hearing Team Pro's arguments, Team Con gets their turn to respond and
present their own perspective.
Back and Forth: The debate continues with both teams taking turns presenting and responding to
arguments.
Teacher as Referee: The teacher will keep things fair and make sure everyone gets a chance to
speak.
