Edición:
1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to define a methodology for doing manual backups in
the ABB systems, Power Generation Portal (PGP) and Power Generation Information
Manager (PGIM).
Edición:
For a complete configuration backup, the following procedure must be followed in all
the nodes of the system (Clients, Principal and Redundant Servers, Principal and Re-
dundant Front-ends):
We must execute the application “regedit.exe” and navigate in the left tree to the
node “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ABB\Power Generation Portal”.
Push the mouse left button or, using the menu option “File”, the option “Export”,
save the file generated in a convenient path. For restore purposes, and version control
it´s recommended to use an appropriate name for this path, for example:
Backup_PGP_NodeName_ddmmyyyy
Edición:
In the File Name box you must introduce the name of the backup file. It’s recom-
mended to use an appropriate name for the file, for example:
Backup_PGP_Nodename_Registry_ddmmyyyy.reg
Alias.xml, OpcPriority.xml
Files related to the OPC connection configuration, containing Alarm Priorities and Alias
Names of the connections.
Edición:
It´s recomended to mantein a security copy of the original installed system files and mantein
the modified files actualized in the work folder:
Edición:
Edición:
Expand the tree “Export” and select the node “Unbuild All”. Push the button “Ex-
port” and wait the program finish the download of the files containing the databases
in the different work folders.
Edición:
Note. It´s recommended to maintain only one database file in the different subfolders of the
/config folder. So, old files must be deleted manually.
A compression utility like Winzip might be used in order to maintain all these files together.
For the original files the name recommended could be:
Backup_ PGP Nodename_Config_ddmmyyyy.zip
A compression utility like Winzip might be used in order to maintain all these files together.
For the original files the name recommended could be:
Backup_PGP_Nodename_DisplaysBin_ddmmyyyy.zip
The source code of these Graphics elements is contained in the folder configured by the regis-
try key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ABB\Power Generation Por-
tal\Directories\Eix_work”
A compression utility like Winzip might be used in order to maintain all these files together.
For the original files the name recommended could be:
A copy of the Scripts must be done. The file containing these scripts are located in the folder
configured by the registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ABB\Power Gener-
ation Portal\APPS\IbDisp\GlobalScriptFile”
Edición:
A compression utility like Winzip might be used in order to maintain all these files together.
For the original files the name recommended could be:
Backup_PGP_Nodename_GlobalScriptFile_ddmmyyyy.zip
A compression utility like Winzip might be used in order to maintain all these files together.
For the original files the name recommended could be:
Backup_PGP_Nodename_Icons_ddmmyyyy.zip
All the files obtained in the steps above must be maintained together in a secure backup media
(CD, DVD). Also is recommended to maintain the files separated by node in a convenient
folder structure in the backup media, for example:
Edición:
PGP can store some process information in the named short term storage. These data are
stored in the folder under the registry keys
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ABB\Power Generation Por-
tal\Directories\HisBackup”
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ABB\Power Generation
Portal\APPS\OneShotBckp\SavePath”
This is the output folder for the historical data backup generated by the application “One-
ShotBackup.exe”.
A compression utility like Winzip might be used in order to maintain all these files together.
For the original files the name recommended could be:
Backup_PGP_Nodename_Historical_ddmmyyyy.zip
Edición:
A dialog will appear where we can select the registry file in our backup done in the
step 2.1 above:
Edición:
Push the button Open. This will import the registry keys stored before in the local
machine registry.
Execute the application “System Setup” and load to the system the files using the dif-
ferent options “Build Data Base”

Edición:
Copy the different subfolder obtained in the step 2.3 above under the folder “C:\Program
Files\ABB Industrial IT\Power Generation Portal\config”. These files are
