lesson or presenting the Good morning, ma'am!
new lesson
How are you today?
We’re all fine, ma’am!

Wow! That’s good to hear!

Let’s start our day with a prayer. May we

all stand for a short prayer to be led by
Joshua.
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
hallowed
be Thy name; Thy kingdom come;
Thy
will be done on earth as it is in
heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive
those who trespass against us; and
lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us
from
Evil.
Amen
Amen.

Thank you, Joshua.

Before you take your seat, kindly pick up
those pieces of papers under your chairs.

(The students pick up the pieces of

Thank you, class! papers)
You may now take your seat.

May I know who is absent today?

None, ma’am!

Wow! That’s good to hear!

Now class, before we proceed to our next

topic today, let’s have a short recap about
our topic last time. Who can tell me
what is our topic last meeting?
About Volume of a cube and a
rectangular prism, ma’am!
Very good! What is volume?

Volume is the amount of space

Very good, Kim! occupied by an object

What is the formula in finding

volume of a cube?
V=S x S x S or V= S³

Very good! How about the rectangular

prism?
V= l x w x h, ma’am!
Correct! What do we call the rectangular
prism?
It is also called a cuboid, ma’am!

That’s right! I have here an example, can

you solve it?

4 cm

6m

(The students answer it and tell the

answer)
2m
4m

Very good! I’m glad that you

remembered our topic last time. Clap for
yourselves!
(The students clap for themselves)

Before we start with our new lesson, I

want you to settle down, set aside other
tasks that will disturb you and focus on
today’s lessons.

Understand?
Yes, ma’am!
B. Establishing a purpose Before we proceed to our new lesson,
for the lesson you are going to play a game! Who
wants to play a game?
(The students raising their hand)

Alright! Are you familiar in a game 4

pics 1 word?
Yes, ma’am!
So, you are going to play that game, so
the mechanics of the game is I will
display four pictures linked by one word.
You need to guess from a set of letters
given below the pictures.

Is it clear, class?

Yes, ma’am!
Okay let’s begin.

o
What do you think is the first letter in the
box?
(The students will answer)
How about in the last box? (The students will answer)
So what’s the answer?
(HOT)
Very good!

L
What do you think is the letter in the first
box? (The students will answer)
What do you think is the answer?
(COLD)

Wow! You all did great! Let’s give a

round of applause to ourselves.
(The students clap for themselves)

So class, that pictures and your answers

have something to do with our topic
today.

C. Presenting Base on the activity you did a while

Examples/instances of back, do you have any clue what is our
new lesson topic today?
Ma’am I think it’s all about
temperature!
You got it right, Jacob!

But before we discuss our new

lesson today, what are my rules again?
1. Listen attentively.
2. Don’t make noise.
3. Stay focus.
Can I rely on that in your class?

Yes, ma’am!
So our topic for today is all about
temperature.

D. Discussing new So let’s define what is temperature.

concepts and practicing
new skills #1 Temperature is the hotness or coldness
of an object. It can be expressed in
"degrees Celsius" (°C). It is the degree of
intensity of heat present in a body, place ,
or thing.

The commonly used temperature scales

are the Fahrenheit, Celsius and the
Kelvin scales. But today, we will focus
on reading thermometers in degree
Celsius or °C.

What are the commonly used scales?

Fahrenheit, Celsius and the Kelvin
scales.
Right! So class, temperature may be
defined as the degree or intensity of heat
present in a body, place or thing means if
we want to know how hot or cold our
body or the place were in, we just need to
get the temperature of it.

Again, what is temperature?

Temperature is the hotness or
coldness of an object.
Can you spell temperature, Lance?
(Lance will spell it)
Very good! What is temperature in
Tagalog?
Temperatura, ma’am!

Very good! Class, what we will going to

use when we want to get the
temperature?
A thermometer, ma’am!

Great! The instrument used in

measuring temperature is the
thermometer.

A thermometer has two important

elements: the temperature sensor and the
scale.

Take a look to this picture. Where do you

think is the sensor and the scale there?
(The students will guess)

So class, the temperature sensor is the

bulb while the scale shows the
temperature.

(The teacher will point it)

The two common liquids inside the scale

that goes up and down as the temperature
changes are alcohol and mercury.

A thermometer has 4 parts.

Glass tube - it hold the glass bulb.
Glass bulb - it contains the mercury.
Scale - it tells how far the mercury rises
and goes down.
Mercury - it is the red liquid inside the
glass bulb. It rises when the temperature
is hot and goes down when it is cold.

Understood?
Yes, ma’am!

There are different thermometers for

different uses. Here are some examples.

Room thermometer

It shows time,temperature, and humidity.

The temperature shown is 24.5°C.

Clinical thermometers are used to

check a person’s body temperature.
The second Thermometer is an example
of non contact digital thermometer that
uses infrared.
Did you get it? Yes, ma’am!
E. Discussing new Look at this picture. What do you think is
concepts and practicing the temperature being showed?
new skills #1 30, ma’am!

Very good! The top of the red bar which

is the mercury is pointing at 30 so the
temperature is 30 °C. Take the reading of
the temperature by looking at the number
scale where end of the liquid is located.

That’s how we read a temperate.

Okay class, class for you to better

understand our topic today, I will show
you some examples.

Example 1:

What is the temperature being showed?

15 °C, ma’am!

Wow! Very good! The temperature being

showed is 15 °C.
Example 2:

Let us read this word problem.

Mother wants to find out if her son has a

fever. She used a thermometer and found
out that the mercury level in the
thermometer is at 39.5 °C. If the normal
body temperature is 37 °C, how much
higher is her son’s temperature than the
normal body temperature?

1. What did Mother want to find out?

Mother wants to find out if her son
has a fever.
2. What did she do?
She used a thermometer and found
Out the temperature.
3. What are the given facts?

39.5 °C and 37 °C, ma’am!

4. . What operation are you going to use?

Subtraction ma’am!
5. What is the complete answer?

The temperature of her son is 2.5 °C

higher that the normal body
temperature.
All your answers are correct! Give
yourselves 10 claps.
(The students clap for themselves)

Do you have any questions or

clarifications regarding our topic today?

No, ma’am!

F. Developing mastery For me to see if you really

(Leads to Formative understand our topic today, you will be
Assessment) having a group activity. I want you to
work again with your group mates.

So, I’ve prepared here 3 scenarios

wherein you’re going to act it in front.
Your leader will choose members to act
in front and then answer the following
questions given.
1. What is asked?
2. What are the given facts.
3. What operation to be used?
4. What is the number sentence?
5. What is the complete answer?

But before that, let me present first the

criteria in judging your activity.

RUBRICS SCORE
UNDERSTANDING 15 %
OF THE CONCEPT
TEAMWORK 5%
PERFORMANCE 15 %
RESPECTFUL 5%
BEHAVIOR
TIME 10 %
MANAGEMENT
TOTAL 50 %

So the group that will gain a high score

will receive a prize.

I will give you 3 minutes to prepare and

then after that, perform it in front.

Is it clear? Yes, ma’am!

NOTE: (PLACE THE TEMPERATURE

READINGS IN THE IMPROVISED
THERMOMETER)

SCENARIO #1:
Emma and Sarah are happily walking
because their last class is done. Their
going to the nearest coffee shop to have
some snack and rest. Emma sip the
coffee and she darted because it is too
hot. She found out that the temperature
of the coffee is 85 degrees Celsius. She
let the coffee cool down a bit, she
measured it’s temperature again and it is
49 °C. How many degrees Celsius does
the coffee decreases?
SCENARIO #2:
Ms. Ramos is discussing her new lesson
to the class. Suddenly, her pupil Ana
noticed that her seatmate Faye is so pale
and her body is hot. Ms. Ramos get the
body temperature of Faye and it is
40.4 °C. She gave her a medicine and
suddenly, Faye’s body temperature drop
by 3.2 °C. What is her temperature now?

SCENARIO #3:
Julius and his family are going to a
picnic. It’s a hot day. In middle of their
trip, Julius felt dizzy and not feeling well.
His mother used a thermometer to
measure his temperature and found out
that his temperature is 39°C. 5 minutes
past and his body temperature increases
by 5 °C. What is Julius’s temperature
now?

May I call on group 1 to present in front.

(Group 1 will perform)
Let’s clap for the group 1!

Next group, please?

(Group 2 will perform)
Let’s clap for the group 2!

May I call on the last group to perform.

(Group 3 will perform)
Clap for the last group!

I am amaze for that wonderful

performance! Give yourselves 5 claps!
(The students clapping for
themselves)
Now, I’m going to tell your scores.

(The teacher will state their scores and

announce the winner.)
G. Finding Practical As a student, why is it important to read
applications of concepts and measure temperature accurately in
and skills everyday life?
It is important in our daily life
because it helps in maintaining health,
Safety and comfort.
Very good! It is also important in
medical contexts. For example, your
brothers is not feeling well, you need to
measure his body temperature for it can
help you determine if he is ill.
What should you do when your brother is
sick?
Tell it immediately to my mother,
ma’am!
Very good, Stephanie! And then we need
to bring him to the hospital for
immediate treatment. Right?
Yes, ma’am!

So class, understanding temperature

measurements is essential in various
subjects and daily life activities. By
mastering temperature reading, you can
make informed decisions and solve real-
life problems. By that, we can appreciate
the impact of temperature on different
aspects of your lives.

Understand?
Yes, ma’am!
H. Making generalizations Again class, what is our topic today?
and abstractions about Temperature, ma’am!
the lesson
Brilliant! What is temperature? Temperature is the hotness or
coldness of an object, ma’am!

Exactly! How about thermometer?

The instrument used in
measuring temperature, ma’am!

What are the four parts of thermometer?

Glass tube, Glass bulb, Scale,
Mercury
Correct! What is glass tube?
It hold the glass bulb, ma’am!

Very good! How about the glass bulb? It contains the mercury, ma’am!

How about the scale?

It tells how far the mercury rises and
goes down.
Correct! What about mercury?
It is the red liquid inside the glass
bulb.
If the mercury rises, what is the
temperature?
The temperature is hot ma’am!

How to read thermometer again?

By looking at the number scale where
end of the liquid is located, ma’am!

Correct!How can we expressed

temperature? It can be expressed in "degrees
Celsius"

Very good! What the is the symbol of

degrees Celsius? Johanna, can you write
it on the board?
(Johanna draws °C on the board)

Good job, class! You really understand

our lesson today.
I. Evaluating Learning Bring out 1 whole sheet of paper for your
last activity. (The students bring 1 whole sheet of
paper)
