The Moon is a satellite of the
Earth, It can illuminate at night,
cause solar and lunar eclipses or
even control the tides of oceans
and seas. The Moon doesn’t
produce its own light, however, we
can see it sometimes because it is
illuminated by the sun.
The phases of The Moon are:
● New Moon
● First Quarter
● Full Moon
● Third Quarter
The Universe is immense and contains billions of
different galaxies. Each galaxy contains astronomical
objects such as stars, planets, satellites, asteroids,
comets and meteoroids
Galaxies and The Milky Way
A Galaxy is an enormous collection of
planets, stars and dust. The forces of
gravity hold together the components
of a galaxy.
Galaxies can be different shapes:
● Spiral
● Irregular
● Elliptical
Our galaxy is the Milky Way, it is a
spiral galaxy and The Sun is one of
the stars in the Milky Way.
In addition to planets and stars, the Solar
System also contains.
Earth
The earth rotates on its axis (Rotation), it
takes 24 hours,When the Sun shines on
one side of the Earth it is day, however,
in the other side is night.
The Earth orbits the sun (Revolution) as
well as it rotates on its axis, it takes 365
days, 5 hours and 16 seconds.The path
of Earth’s revolution around the sun is an
eclipse, also, the axis of the Earth isn’t
vertical, it is tilted 23,5º.
