Instructions for Filling-up the Application Form
for INSPIRE Scholarship for the Academic Year 2023-24

Please read the following instructions carefully before filling up the INSPIRE application
form:

1. The scholarship is valued at 80,000/- per annum. Each candidate will receive annual
scholarship @ 5000/- per month with total value of 60,000/-. All the Inspire scholars are
required to undertake summer research projects under an active researcher in any recognized
research centre across India. A summer time Mentorship grant of 20,000/- will be paid every
year. The scholars have to submit the Project Report and Certificate from Mentor after the
completion of the project in due course of time.
2. The students pursuing 4-Year BS and 5-Year BS-MS Dual Degree programs in natural and
basic sciences and have secured rank within top 10,000 in JEE-AIR are eligible to apply for
INSPIRE Scholarship.
OR
Meritorious students with aggregate marks within top 1% of their Class XII examination of
any State/ Central Education Board in India are eligible.
3. Any student who will be awarded the scholarship in the first year will only be eligible for the
continuation of the scholarship in the succeeding years. The student will only be allowed to
move under the KVPY scholarship for one year during the period of award of scholarship.
4. As per the DST guidelines, the students pursuing BS program in Economics and B.
Tech./Dual-Degree programs in Engineering are not eligible to receive INSPIRE Scholarship.
5. If a student has failed in one or more courses or your API is below 7.0, he/she will not be
eligible to receive INSPIRE scholarship.
6. In the application form, all the fields must be filled (write N/A if a certain field is not
applicable). Incomplete form in any circumstances will not be considered for scholarship.
7. The candidates are also required to submit their latest transcripts/grade report card. Only first
year students are required to submit a photocopy of their JEE-AIR.
8. The student must not be getting any other scholarship either from IIT Kanpur or from any
other external source(s). A student can avail ONLY one scholarship at a time.
9. Any student who has been punished in any case or any disciplinary action has been instituted
against him by Senate / SSAC of any level including level Zero will not be eligible to receive
any scholarship.
10. All information stated in the application form must be same as in the supporting document(s).
Any discrepancy will attract disciplinary action including but not limited to revocation of the
scholarship.
11. The candidates are required to submit the duly filled INSPIRE application form in the SSPC
office on or before 15th September 2023 till 5:00 pm positively.
