Deen is something given by Divine law for the

guidance in the matters of Faith and righteousness
in practices and dealings.
The Meaning Of Islam

The Arabic word Islam comes from the words Silm and
Salam, which mean Peace.

Islam means submission or surrender& obedience to God.

In literal sense, it means complete surrender to the will of God.
In simple terms, Islam means to be obedient and faithful to the commands of God
 Quran says
ً‫ﯾَﺎ أَﯾﱡﮭَﺎ اﻟﱠﺬِﯾﻦَ آ َﻣﻨُﻮ ْا ا ْد ُﺧﻠُﻮ ْا ﻓِﻲ اﻟ ﱢﺴﻠْﻢِ ﻛَﺂﻓﱠﺔ‬
1. O you who believe! Enter into Islam whole-heartedly. (2:208)

2. َ‫ض طَﻮْ ﻋًﺎ َوﻛَﺮْ ھًﺎ َوإِﻟَ ْﯿ ِﮫ ﯾُﺮْ َﺟﻌُﻮن‬

ِ ْ‫ت وَاﻷَر‬
ِ ‫أَﻓَ َﻐ ْﯿ َﺮ دِﯾﻦِ اﻟﻠّ ِﮫ ﯾَ ْﺒﻐُﻮنَ َوﻟَﮫُ أَ ْﺳﻠَ َﻢ ﻣَﻦ ﻓِﻲ اﻟ ﱠﺴﻤَﺎوَا‬
Do they seek other than the religion of Allah, while to Him submitted all creatures in the
heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly. And to him shall they all be returned.
(3:83)

3. ‫إِنﱠ اﻟﺪﱢﯾﻦَ ﻋِﻨ َﺪ اﻟﻠّ ِﮫ اﻹِ ْﺳﻼَ ُم‬

There is no substitute of the Word Deen in English language so

Deen word is translated as religion.
Need for a Religion

To know the purpose of Creation.

After knowing the purpose, man struggles to achieve that purpose.
Thus, it teaches him the way of life.
To achieve peace& accomplish natural needs like eating & drinking.
Religion controls its followers in the circle of good morality.
Prophet says:
A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims
are safe. (Bukhari)
