COMMUNITY BACKGROUND

 History of the City/Municipality

- From 1939 to 1972, Quezon City was part of the province of Rizal, divided into two electoral
districts. During World War II, it became part of Greater Manila. After the war, Rizal
continued to represent Quezon City until 1972. In 1984, the city elected its separate
representative. In 1987, Quezon City was divided into four congressional districts. In 2012,
Republic Act No. 10170 created two new districts, and residents began electing their
representatives in 2013.
