Earth Day Activities (Grade VI to IX)

Solutions to Beat the Plastic Pollution


8th April 2024.
Dear Parents,

As you all aware, the Earth Day is approaching on 22nd April. To mark the occasion, GES encourages all
students from 6 to 9 to actively participate in activities that aim to spread awareness of responsible
behaviour for safeguarding the Earth. The Special theme for this year prescribed by CBSE is PLANET Vs
PLASTIC
We believe that through young mind’s creative expressions, we can raise awareness and contribute to
finding solutions to combat the grave issue of plastic pollution. Students are encouraged to take part in the
activity assigned to his/her respective class.

Time Allowed: 45 Minutes


Date of the competition: 19th April 2024

Collage making: Participants are students of Grade 9


They have to collect and arrange pictures, newspaper clippings and other materials to make a collage that
highlights the damaging effects of plastic pollution and showcase effective solutions. Theme: Solution to
beat the Plastic Pollution/Worth of Earth/ I can Help the Earth (Students can use any one of the Themes)

Slogan Writing: Participants are students of Grade 8


Theme: Solution to beat the Plastic Pollution
Students have to compose impactful slogan or catchphrases that can raise awareness about the
consequences of plastic pollution and the need for sustainable alternatives. Language:
English/Hindi/Telugu

Poster Making: Participants are Students of Grade 6&7


Theme: Solution to beat the Plastic Pollution
They have to design an eye catching poster illustrating the importance of reducing plastic usage and
promoting responsible practices to protect the Earth.

The aim of the competition is not just to judge the students based on their creative aspects but also to
trigger thought process among the students in conserving Earth.

Rules for all Competitions:


 Two Participants in each team.
 use Half of the chart sheet with margins drawn with black pen/marker.
 use pencil, crayon, watercolour, oil paint, etc.
 Theme should be clearly mentioned at the Top Margin of the Activity

Judgement Criteria:
• Relevance to the theme. • Originality. • Artistic composition. • Creativity.• Message conveyed. •
Effectiveness in communicating the intended message.

Let us join together in making positive impact in saving earth by showcasing our creative talent and
spreading awareness about the urgent need to combat plastic pollution
