Blues
The blues emerged from the oppressed, economically disadvantaged African-American
communities in the rural southern states of America in the years following the
American Civil War (1861–1865). Blues singers were descendants of slaves and
elements of their music reach back to African origins.

Many of the best known blues musicians came from the southern states of America,
and some would argue that the Mississippi delta was the birthplace of the blues.
This area had a greater concentration of black people than any other part of the
country, and an economy based largely on cotton farming which meant that this was
also an area in which segregation and social isolation of black people through lack
of economic opportunity was deeply entrenched.

2.Jazz
Jazz a musical form, often improvisational, developed by African Americans and
influenced by both European harmonic structure and African rhythms. It was
developed partially from ragtime and blues.
The beginnings of jazz actually date back to the 19th century. New Orleans was home
to Congo Square, a space where slaves would gather and play music. That tradition
started a bit before 1820, and it brought together people from a wide array of
countries, each introducing a bit of their nation’s unique sound to the mix.
Over time, jazz evolved to include a wide array of subgenres, each with its own
unique sounds and characteristics.
