Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant
educational opportunity or worked to overcome an educational
barrier you have faced My name is Alexis Villaver and I am currently 18 years old. I am an upcoming graduating senior at El Capitan High School. I have been an El Capitan student for all four years of high school, on top of that I have been taking college classes at Merced College since my sophomore year. I am currently in the CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) Program at Merced College. I aspire to become an RN or a Pharmacist. I am currently in the Leo’s club at my school and we volunteer to help clean up parks, help with food drives, and help feed the homeless. I also have clinical days for the CNA program where we work in the nursing home helping residents with their needs as well as improving our skills. During our clinicals, we help residents in the nursing home shower, eat, anything that they would like us to do for them. Sometimes their family members rarely visit them so with us CNA students being there with them, it reassures them that they could always talk to us or ask us anything. I am a dedicated student who is determined to succeed academically and make an impact on my community. Intending to become a Registered Nurse or a Pharmacist, I have pursued educational opportunities, such as joining the Certified Nurse Assistant Program while maintaining a GPA of 3.61 and ranking 110/461 in my class. My participation in extracurricular activities, such as volunteering in Leo's club, and working in a clinical setting, has not only sharpened my leadership abilities but also developed in me a strong feeling of empathy and commitment to serving others. I am committed to becoming an RN to help people in our community. I want to be able to make a difference and help people who are in need. I am determined to use this scholarship to achieve my goals and to make a difference in our community.
