Date of Lesson Plan: When will you teach this lesson in your mentor’s classroom?
5/3/2024
Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)
-Students will listen to instructions and the steps to learn proper Badminton technique.
-Students will watch a demonstration of proper Badminton skills.
-Students will practice learning Badminton skills.
Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)
Students will be engaging in a lesson about Badminton skills. Students will have a briefing on
how they will learn, and they will see demonstrations on how to practice. Students will then
apply their knowledge and attempt to display their own skills. At the end of the class the
students will rate their progress with a thumbs up, side, or down. At the end of the lesson the
goal is for students to learn the proper techniques for playing Badminton.
CCSS Rationale (Describe the specific Common Core State Standards addressed during the teaching
of this lesson plan.)
Instructional Procedures
• Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)
• Instructional Strategies (Click into that link for help describing all instructional methods you will
employ during the lesson. Remember, instructional strategies fall into one or more of the following
broad categories: DIRECT, INDIRECT, EXPERIENTIAL, INTERACTIVE, INDEPENDENT
STUDY)
-Direct instruction when students are getting instruction and watching demonstrations
on Badminton technique.
-Interactive learning when students can partner up and help each other practice.
• Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)
Middle school students are almost always on board to learn new sports and skills and
are graded every day on participation.
• Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?
I will be interacting with the students and checking in on their progress and answering
any questions they may have.
• Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)
I will end the lesson by having the students rate their progress and return the rackets
and birdies to the baskets and make sure nets are set for the next class.
• Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)
I will check in on the students and make report of what they rated themselves after the
class period is over.
