1. What is IDMT relay?


2. With the suitable diagram, explain the working principle of IDMT? State your
reference(s).

FUSE

Figure 1 shows a typical distribution in the power system. Using the fuse time-current
characteristics, select the suitable rating for each fuse. The motor current must at least
withstand 5 times of full load current for 10 s. Discuss the main function of fuse in
protecting the motor and how to select a fuse for the motor. State your reference(s).
