Title of the Activity Essential Learning Competencies (MELCS)- Based Alternative Learning System Senior
High School Curriculum
Rationale In consonance with Division Memorandum No. 512 s. 2023 titled “DIVISION
TRAINING OF ALS SHS TEACHERS ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CONTEXTUALIZED MOST
ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES(MELCS)- BASED ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM the Alternative Learning System is in full stride in
implementing initiatives to provide meaningful and useful training to the ALS Senior High
School and Junior High School Teachers.
As the ALS Implementers reflect upon the transformative years of ALS learners in their
academic pursuits and personal growth the ALS Teachers of this District earnestly envision the
positive changes of these learners that they will be able to execute with their knowledge,skills
and performed into a higher degree of excellence on their individual chosen career.
However, due to the great changes , the ALS SHS Teachers are still in the process of
absorbing the insights of the ALS -Senior High School Program and one way to address this
gap is to capacitate the ALS SHS Teachers on the ALS Program and competencies which will
then be their basis for crafting learning intervention that most appropriate to their learners’
situation .
This activity is aimed to provide leveling of understanding for ALS SHS teachers in the
implementation of ALS -Senior High school Program and conducting Contextualized MOST
ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES(MELCS)- BASED ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Program or Course Description
This is a one-day activity through a LAC session that will make use of presentations,
question and answer portions, demonstrations and clarifications to have a unified
understanding of the process of ALS-SHS Education.
Target Participant Profile All SHS Teachers , 2 District ALS Teachers , School Heads and ALS- SHS Coordinator
B. ACTIVITY DESIGN
c.1 Objective
At the end of this activity, the ALS -SHS Teachers will be able to:
- be capacitated in performing extraordinary things as they stand at the threshold of a

limitless teaching and filled with endless possibilities in the sphere of Alternative
Learning System.
At the end of this activity, the ALS -SHS Teachers should be:
1. equipped with knowledge of the Principles of ALS Program;
2. familiarized with the strategies in conducting contextualizedd MOST ESSENTIAL

LEARNING COMPETENCIES(MELCS)- BASED ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM to be used in teaching the ALS-SHS Learners; and
3. capacitated in crafting lesson plan that most appropriate to the situation of ALS learners.

teach to be adept at using different methods in integrating ALS-SHS MELCS-BASED and, if necessary, changing their approaches to optimize
learning which include content-specific strategies and methods to teach specific content. Thus, the Equal Opportunity Principle (EOP) and the
promotion of non-discrimination, fairness, and transparency shall be strictly observed, and gender equality shall overrule in program
implementation and management.
