Principles
Principles of effective presentation
 1. plan your presentation well-
topic planned, choose style of presentation, define main idea, make an outline
 2. interact with your audience
Make an audience analysis, grab attention of audience with opening made
interesting, create a two way process, anecdotes can be shared
 3.make proper use of body language
 Good eye contact to be maintained, proper use of facial expressions,
silence too is important, tone can not be monotonous, posture to be alert,
feet should be in stable position
 4.use powerful visual aids
Well designed, projectors, whiteboard, handouts are some of the visual aids
It is to be used only to reinforce a point, visual aids cannot become the main
attraction, graphs and charts can be used to explain a subject clearly
A transparency, also known variously as a viewfoil, foil,
or viewgraph, is a thin sheet of transparent flexible
material, typically cellulose acetate, onto which figures
can be drawn. These are then placed on an overhed
projector for display to an audience. Many companies and
small organizations use a system of projectors and
transparencies in meetings and other groupings of people,
though this system is being largely replaced by video
projectors and interactive whiteboards.
USES OF OHP
 OHP-overhead projector. Very simple to operate it
 Certain guidelines to use it effectively are-
BEFORE PRESENTATION
 Make sure:
1.You know how to operate the OHP
2.OHP is properly plugged in and is in working condition.
3.The OHP is suitably positioned so that your transparencies on the screen can
be seen from all parts of the room
4.Transparencies are arranged in order of presentation near the projector
5.The writing on the slide is large and legible
DURING PRESENTATION
1. Avoid standing or moving between the projector and the screen
2. Always point to the transparency and not the screen when referring to
particular point of information projected
3. 3.use a pencil or piece of colored gel to point. Makes it free for you to move
around
4. Do not reveal all information at once in the transparency. Audience may get
confused .Cover up the transparency with a card and reveal information
slowly
5. Turn off the projector lamp if you are not projecting a transparency
USE OF TRANSPARENCIES
 Some golden rules:
 1. make letters and drawings bigger and bolder for better visibility
 2.do not crowd the visual with too much information packed in a single
transparency
 3.use bright and contrasting colors and symbols.
 4.place information at the center
 5.keep transparencies clean
 6.after making your transparencies lay it out flat to dry. Normally it takes up to 15
mnts for the ink to dry.
PREPARING A PRESENTATION
 STEPS IN PREPARING A PRESENTATION
