A. MODIFICATIONS

NOTE: As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting
the airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.
B. REASON
(1) History
Due to several reported cases of cracks on the Main Landing Gear (MLG) door hinge
fitting on the keel beam, it has become necessary to inspect these fittings for damage.
The forward hinge of the twin wheel undercarriage must be inspected. Due to the
nature of the findings the complete fitting needs to be inspected, in particular the lugs
and the adjacent areas.
(2) Objective/Action
This Service Bulletin describes the Special Detailed Inspection (SDI) with High
Frequency Eddy-Current (HFEC) of the MLG forward hinge-fitting and connecting plate
Left Hand (LH)/Right Hand (RH) of New Engine Option (NEO) aircraft with twin wheel
MLG undercarriage.
NOTE: Current Engine Option (CEO) aircraft are inspected in accordance with Service
Bulletin No. Ref. SB A320-53-1196.
This Service Bulletin also details the inspection to verify the correct MLG door
installation.
Accomplishment of Service Bulletin No. Ref. SB A320-53-1503 is a terminative action
for the inspection of MLG door hinge and actuator fittings on the keel beam with twin
wheel undercarriage.
(3) Advantages
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will ensure early detection of cracks in the
MLG door hinge fitting and will prevent an unscheduled repair.
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin is expected to lead to cancellation of
Airworthiness Limitation Item (ALI) task(s) reference Ref. ALI 533154-04-02 after the
modification is addressed in a variation or revision to Airworthiness Limitation Section
(ALS) Part 2.
Accomplishment of repair procedures for bush migration, wear marks and other
damages will ensure structural integrity in the actuator fittings area.

standard configuration.

C. REASON
(1) History
Due to several reported cases of cracks on the Main Landing Gear (MLG) door hinge
fitting on the keel beam, it has become necessary to inspect these fittings for damage.
The forward hinge of the twin wheel undercarriage must be inspected. Due to the
nature of the findings the complete fitting needs to be inspected, in particular the lugs
and the adjacent areas.
(2) Objective/Action
This Service Bulletin describes the Special Detailed Inspection (SDI) with High
Frequency Eddy-Current (HFEC) of the MLG forward hinge-fitting and connecting plate
Left Hand (LH)/Right Hand (RH) of New Engine Option (NEO) aircraft with twin wheel
MLG undercarriage.
NOTE: Current Engine Option (CEO) aircraft are inspected in accordance with Service
Bulletin No. Ref. SB A320-53-1196.
This Service Bulletin also details the inspection to verify the correct MLG door
installation.
Accomplishment of Service Bulletin No. Ref. SB A320-53-1503 is a terminative action
for the inspection of MLG door hinge and actuator fittings on the keel beam with twin
wheel undercarriage.
(3) Advantages
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will ensure early detection of cracks in the
MLG door hinge fitting and will prevent an unscheduled repair.
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin is expected to lead to cancellation of
Airworthiness Limitation Item (ALI) task(s) reference Ref. ALI 533154-04-02 after the
modification is addressed in a variation or revision to Airworthiness Limitation Section
(ALS) Part 2.

If an aircraft listed in the applicability has a modification or repair embodied that is not
of AIRBUS origin, and which affects the content of this Service Bulletin, the operator
is responsible for obtaining approval by its airworthiness authority for any adaptation
necessary before incorporation of the Service Bulletin.
G. MANPOWER
The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost to
do the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,
and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do not
include the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of parts
and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also
not included.

AIRBUS will credit the man-hours indicated in this Service Bulletin for inspections that are
performed on aircraft in warranty at the time of such inspection. Credit will be at the agreed

in-house warranty labor rate. Claims for labor allowance should be received not later than
90 days after completion of the last affected warranted aircraft.
For those aircraft in warranty at the time of such inspection with findings further to
inspection as per this Service Bulletin, AIRBUS will credit the man-hours indicated in this
Service Bulletin for corrections that are performed on aircraft in warranty at the time of
such correction. Credit will be at the agreed in-house warranty labor rate. Claims for labor
allowance should be received not later than 90 days after completion of the last affected
warranted aircraft.
This specific Industry Support shall not apply as an alternative to accomplish the corrective
action, when such corrective action has been made available, and is valid until Nov 30/25.

hinge fitting external lug surface, webs and connecting plate on LH side for
crack(s) in accordance with Ref. NTM 53-31-54.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the MLG door and the MLG door
actuator to do the SDI.

<1> Do the replacement of the MLG door hinge fitting in accordance
