Group Project on Competitive Strategy

Instructions:
An important part of the course is the completion of a group project by students
assigned to groups. Students are required to complete a strategic analysis of a
company as per the questions indicated below. One of the key purposes of group
work is to enhance your skill in working collaboratively. The project will give you the
opportunity to apply the methodologies, skills, and techniques you learn to real-world
business contexts. In addition, the project is designed to help develop skills in
unearthing and evaluating business information from multiple sources. Therefore, the
group project helps in developing critical and integrative thinking.
For the assigned company,
1) Conduct a Value Chain Analysis and identify various important sources of
competitive advantage.
2) Identify some valuable and inimitable resources and capabilities of the
company that give rise to its unique competitive advantage. Based on this,
evaluate if the company can sustain its competitive advantage in the future.
3) Identify a strategic initiative that the company has undertaken in recent years
which did not meet with success and analyse the reasons for the failure.

The submissions have to be maximum of 10 pages, excluding Exhibits and


References. (Font: 11 point type, 1.5 line spacing, Arial, Black color). Submission
deadline: 11:59:59 pm on May 15, 2024 by uploading on LMS (any one group
member can upload on behalf of the group).

Simple repetition of case facts will not be rewarded. The following criteria will be
used to evaluate the project report.
• Internal consistency, organization of the report and overall quality of
communication
• Diagnosis of key issues and adequate analyses supported by data/evidence
• Clear recommendations stemming from the above
• Relevant application of concepts
