RELIANCE HOME COMFORT Non-Ontario HVAC Installers/ Technicians

Licenses required: Gas B license. Also clean drivers abstract and clean criminal check

Pay: Varies $35- 40/ hr( Subject to change please confirm with team lead)

Commission: Can earn sales commissions on upselling/ cross- selling products & services( details
provided by manager)

Benefits: Health and dental, company vehicle, RRSP after 6 months, Typically not Unionized

Location: Varies- please inquire with team lead & HRC Roles spreadsheet to confirm

Hours : Rotating shifts; Morning, afternoon start times and weekends occasionally - More info can be
provided by Management team

Training: On- job training. Details provided by manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: HVAC Service Technician

We are recruiting for HVAC Service Technicians in Location on behalf of our


client who is a national Fortune 500 starting as soon as possible.

Qualifications

 Successfully completed grade 12


 Must possess a valid Gas B license
 Hold a valid Driver’s License with a clean record
 Ability to work rotating shifts and standby duties as required
 Must be physically capable of performing all work required of this
position, i.e. occasional lifting of 15 kg up to shoulder height, frequent
bending, occasional squatting/kneeling, working inside and outside in
all types of weather
 Possess strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
 Demonstrate a strong verbal or written communication skill set
Job Responsibilities

 Residential HVAC Technician


 Coordinate and lead in the successful installation of various HVAC
equipment
 Educate customers on the operation of their equipment
 Contribute to employer’s growth through offerings of employer’s
products and services
 Strive to make each customer experience outstanding for our
customers
 Contribute to the employer’s high standards of health and safety
Please note that this position requires a Criminal Background Check and Driver’s
Abstract be completed for potential candidates. This check must be satisfactory
in order for an employment offer to be extended unconditionally. Candidates
must have a valid SIN number

Sourcing Candidates

- Review existing candidates through Job Order attachments & hotlist


- Search in CURA using keywords and locations
- Source new candidates using Indeed and Linkedin Recruiter

Tips for Sourcing Candidates

Search Criteria used in Indeed, Linked and any additional job boards:

Job Titles: HVAC Technician, HVAC Tech, field technician

Keywords: In addition to the above Gasfitter B, Gas B, combinations of all job titles and keywords
listed.

Companies: Enercare, Belyea, Aireone

Location: Try looking at small towns and cities near the location of the role.

Recruitment Process

1. Review Resume
- If moving forward Add candidate to CURA & Attach to Job Order
2. Phone Screen ( using phone screen questions)
- Phone screening questions are in CURA under questionnaire. IF not in CURA: add in
documents and add a note.
IF candidate meets requirement move to step 3.
3. Speak to team lead and advise that you wish to move forward.
- Add HRC Logo
- Ensure resume is up to date/ ask candidate if resume to send updated resume( Note: Do
not send Indeed resumes if you do, modify resume to a different format)

Team lead will send resume from CURA under to Job order and add notes.

4. 1st interview Reliance HVAC Manager


-Assist the team lead with facilitating the back and forth between candidate and
client( Reliance Recruiter) during the scheduling of the interview
-Schedule Zoom meeting between HR Team Lead and candidate for interview prep
- Ensure candidate receives all interview details
- Call or SMS candidate day of interview wishing them good luck – From CURA
5. Follow up with candidate and Team lead( for feedback from client) on interview and confirm
next steps.
6. 2nd interview with General manager for that branch( sometimes the 1st & 2nd interview are
completed by the same manager. One as phone and one in-person)
-Assis the team lead with facilitating the back and forth between candidate and
client( Reliance Recruiter) during the scheduling of the interview
-Schedule Phone call/ Zoom meeting between HR Team Lead and candidate for interview prep/
answer any questions( if necessary)
7. If an offer is extended,
-Work with Team Lead to assist client ( Reliance recruiter ) with onboarding. This may include:
verbal confirmation to candidate of offer & confirmation of start date, sending candidate offer
letter, obtaining candidate IDs, licenses, assisting with reference checks.

8. Recruitment Lead to advise Manager placement is confirmed by Client so manager will place in
CURA

Onboarding :

1. Work with Team Lead to assist client ( Reliance recruiter ) with onboarding. This may
include: verbal confirmation to candidate of offer & confirmation of start date, sending
candidate offer letter, obtaining candidate IDs, licenses, assisting with reference checks.
2. Follow up with candidate before first day to ensure they have all details and wish good luck
3. Check in with candidate at end of first week

New Hire Checklist

Call candidate to advise of offer and confirm candidates desired


start date(provide to team lead)

Coordinate with team lead to ensure offer letter is sent to candidate by HRC or
Reliance.

Follow up candidate to ensure offer letter and two pieces of ID are submitted to
Reliance

Work with team lead to assist with reference checks if required

Follow up with candidate to ensure he received and completed request for criminal
check(sent by Reliance)

Work with team lead to ensure candidate receives first day details from client

Give candidate a call the day before his start day to wish him/her luck. If they do
not respond leave voicemail and send an SMS.
