the preservation of our planet. Big
environmental actions can make a
difference, but our daily activities also
matter a lot. By reducing the amount of
waste that we produce, recycling, taking
short showers, and saving electricity, for
example, we can help to reduce the
impact of our actions on the planet.

Simple Present (Review)
No bimestre anterior, nós vimos que o Simple
Present é o tempo verbal utilizado para as ações
que ocorrem no tempo presente do indicativo. É
um tempo usado para indicar as características
de alguém, principalmente quando utilizado com
os verbos be e have. Vamos rever:
“Sustainable actions are very important to
preserve the planet.”
“We have to take care of our planet.”

Outros verbos, quando usados no Simple Present,
são conjugados, quando se tem um sujeito na
terceira pessoa do singular (He, She, It),
acrescentando as terminações “-s”, “-es” ou “-ies”.
Vamos ver, como exemplos, os verbos a seguir, que
serão úteis durante as atividades desta aula:

involves environmental protection, social justice, and economic
prosperity. Nowadays, many individuals and organizations are aware
of the importance of promoting sustainability, as it is a global issue
that involves everyone’s efforts to build a better future.
Do you know what sustainability is? Sustainability
encompasses three main pillars:
• Social: refers to social justice and equal rights.
• Economic: refers to the prosperity and economic
development of different societies.
• Environmental: refers to the protection of the
environment and natural resources.

There are many ways to get involved in environmental
protection in your community.
Every little bit helps. By making small changes in our
lives. Together, we can make a big difference. In pairs,
make a list of actions that you do or could do in the
school community that can help the environment. To
help you do that, you can answer the question:
1. What can we do to save water?
2. What can we do to save electricity?
3. What can we do to reduce waste?
