Legal Internship Opportunity with Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority

(CMDA)

CMDA invites applications for a legal internship program from law students and recent
law graduates to test their theories and actively participate in drafting and vetting policies,
rules, and regulations and assisting with cases. It will expose students/professionals to the
complex functioning and governance of Chennai Metropolis and help them acquire critical
skills, insights and learnings. Further, the City of Chennai is at a crucial stage of its urban
planning history— the third master plan (2027–2046) of the city, funded by the World Bank, is
currently being prepared.

There are two categories of internship applications:

A. Current Graduate and Post-graduate students
A maximum of 5 students currently enrolled in an academic institution can be engaged
in this category

Stipend per month

Qualification of interns

Law students who have completed the 2nd year of

a 3 years LLB course/ 4th year of a 5 year Rs. 8,000/-
integrated LLB course.

Applicants from category-A can intern for a period of 2 months at CMDA. If the
internship period is lesser than 2 months, the applicant is not eligible for the stipend.

B. Recent Graduates and Post-graduates who have completed their degree:

Graduates and postgraduates who have completed their course within a period of 1 year
of having passed the final exam as on the date of applying for an internship will be eligible for
the internship. A maximum of 5 interns per year would be engaged in this category.

passed the final exam as on the date of applying for
internship.
 Applicants from Category- B can intern for a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 1
year at CMDA. If the internship period is lesser than 2 months, the applicant is not eligible for
the stipend.
Interested candidates are requested to fill out the below application form with a CV
and Statement of Purpose (SoP) to work with CMDA. Applications will be scrutinized through
a selection committee for the award of the internship.
