III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

DAILY ROUTINE
 Greetings
Good morning class! Good morning sir.
How are you today? We are good sir.
That’s good to hear.

 Classroom set up
Please arrange your chairs and pick all (the students will arrange their chairs and they
the unnecessary things under your will pick the unnecessary things under their
chairs. chairs)

 Prayer
Before we start our class, let’s have a
short prayer. may I ask everyone to
please stand and feel the presence of
the Lord, Almighty God.

Precious, please lead the prayer. Yes sir.

(PRAYER) (PRAYER)

 Checking of attendance
So, is anyone absent today? None sir.

Very good, give yourselves an army clap (the students will perform the army clap)

 Review
What was our lesson last meeting?
Yes Yuan? Presentation of data using different types of
graph sir.
Very good Yuan.

A. ACTIVATION
Before we proceed to our discussion, let’s have
an activity first. This activity is called
“ARRANGE YOURSELVES”. In this activity, I will
select 7 representatives and they will have to (7 representative will come in front)
arrange their selves according to what the
situation will be.

It’s that clear class? Yes sir.

Now, I want you to check under your chairs. If

you see the word “PEN” under your chairs that
means you are the lucky one who assist the 7
representatives and if it is “PENCIL” better luck
next time.

So, who got “PEN”? ( 1 student will raise his/her hand)

Okay, please proceed in front. ( the students will proceed in front)

In this activity, the seven representatives will

only be given (30 seconds) to arrange their
selves while the student who got “PEN” will
help these 7 representatives.

Okay, please settled now.

So, is everyone ready? Yes sir.

1. Arrange your selves according to your age (12,12,13,13,13,14,14)

from least to greatest. (30 seconds)

Questions:
a. What age appear the most among the group Expected answer: 13
of students?

b. If we are going to get the average data of Expected answer:

your ages by adding all your ages divided by the The average /mean is 13
number of students, what will be the mean?

c. What is the middle value or the median of

the data? Expected answer:
13
I will select 1 student who got a word “pencil” a
while ago to come in front and join the 7 (The selected student will come in front)
representatives here.

2. Arrange your selves according to your height

from shortest to tallest. 55,56,56,57,57,58,59,59
(30 seconds)

Questions:
a. What is the MEDIAN of your heights?
Expected answer: 57
b. What height is commonly seen among the
group of students or the mode?
Expected answer: 56,57,59

Very good, thank you class, you may now take

your seat.

So, what we did is related to what we are going

to discuss today which are the measures of
central tendency, (Mean, Median, and Mode.)

B. ANALYSIS
Let’s now proceed to our discussion. Our topic
for today is all about “Measures of central
tendency for ungrouped data.”

Here’s our objectives:

 define and identify the mean, median,
and mode for ungrouped data
 illustrate the mean, median, and mode
for ungrouped data
 find the mean, median, median and
mode for ungrouped data
 appreciate the importance of mean,
median, and mode in real life situation
What are the measures of central tendency? The measures of central tendency are the
mean, median and mode sir.
Very good!
Basing from our activity earlier , what is mean? The mean is the average of a data set.

How do we get the mean value of ungrouped ∑x

Using the formula x =
data? N
Where: ∑x is the sum of the data
N is the number of values in the data
Very good! set.

What about MEDIAN? The median is the middle value in a set of data.

How do we get the median of ungrouped data?

To find the median, arrange the scores either in
increasing or decreasing order and then find
the middle score. If the data set contains an
even number of values, find the two central
values that split the data into halves. Then
calculate the mean of the two central values
X1+ X2
using the formula: X =
Very good Precious! 2
And lastly what is mode?
The mode is the measure or value which occurs
most frequently in a set of data.
How do we get the mode?
To find the mode for a set of data, we need to
select the measure that appears most often in
the set.
-If two or more measures appear the same
number of times then each of this values is a
mode.
-If every measure appears the same number of
That is correct… times, then the set of data has no mode.
Types of Mode:
 NO MODE- a data having equal
frequency of observations.
 UNIMODAL- if the data set has only
one value that occurs most often.
 BIMODAL- a data set that has two
values that occur with the same
greatest frequency.
 TRIMODAL- a data set has three values
that occur with the same greatest
frequency.
 MULTIMODAL- when a set of data has
more than three values that occur with
the same greatest frequency.

C. ABSTRACTION
Let’s have a recap.

What are the measures of central tendency of

ungrouped data?

What does these measures represents?

Mean, median, and mode sir.

How will you define the word center? It represents the middle or the center of the
Yes Edgar? distribution sir.

That’s right!
It is the middle of everything around us sir.

Now, how about in your real life situation class,

who is the center of your life?
Yes Alona?

Another idea?
Yes Michael? The center of my life is my family sir.

How about God, did you also make him as the

center of your life?
Yes Mary Joy? The center of my life is my mother sir.

Exactly! Yes sir. I always make God as the center of my

life because I know sir, with God, nothing is
So class, whoever is the center of our life, we impossible.
should not forget God because he is the source
of everything whatever decision or thing we
will make.

D. APPLICATION

I am confident that you already understand our

discussion. Let’s have a group activity.

I will group you into 3, please count.

Group 1 and 2, please stay in front.

Group 3 , please stay at the back.

Let’s play “ FACT OR BLUFF”. You will need to

do is to raise your card labeled by fact and
bluff. If the given question is tue raise “ FACT”
and if the given question is not true raise
“BLUFF”. I will be giving you 30 seconds to
answer.

Is that clear class?

Are you ready?

Let’s start!

1.MEAN is the measures of central tendency

that is calculated by adding all the values and
dividing the sum by the number of values?

2.MEDIAN is the measures of central tendency

that can have more than one value for a set of
data?

3.ThE measurements that arranges data from

least to greatest and chooses the middle value
of the ungrouped data is MODE

4.TRIMODAL- a data set has three values that

occur with the same greatest frequency.

5.The measures of central tendency are the

mean, median and mode

6. 39.57 is the mean of the numbers?

10,35,70,39,65,30,28

7. 39 is the median for the ungrouped data

10,35,70,39,65,30,28
8.The temperature in oC on 7 days during the
month of May was as follows
32oC, 34oC,38oC,37oC,38oC,39oC,38oC,
30oC is the mode of the temperatures?

9.Divide 6 to the sum of the data 3,4,5, and 6?

To get the MEAN.

10.The mean of four numbers is 71.5. If three of

the numbers are 58,76 and 88, then the value
Of the fourth number is 64
IV. ASSESSMENT

Test 1:

Direction: find the mean, median, and mode of each of the following sets of ungrouped data.

1. 29,34,37.22.15,38,40

2. 5,6,7,7,9,9,9,10,14,16,20

3. 26,32,1218,11,12,15,18,21

4. The scores of 20 students in English quiz are as follows:

25 33 45 35 34

26 29 38 35 40

45 32 47 28 25

39 38 29 37 45

Test 2:

As a student, why do you think your knowledge in finding the mean, median, and the mode is
important? Identify a real life scenario where in you can relate your knowledge about the mean,
median, and mode. write your answers in 3-5 sentences.

V. ASSIGNMENT

A. Find the mean, median, and mode of the ungrouped data.

The data below shows the score of a student in the Monthly Examination. Analyze the given data
and answer the question below.
