Accura 2700/2750_Smart Motor Management System

Overview
Effectively Meets the Needs of Managing Power Consumption of Motors and
Improves Space Efficiency in MCCs

Motors are used for various purposes; pump, ventilator, compressor, etc. The motor is one
of the largest energy-consuming equipment, and its energy consumption accounts for about
75% of industrial energy consumption and about 55% of the total energy consumption. The
importance of efficient energy management for motors has increased, but most existing
motor protection devices do not have voltage and power measurement function. Although
motor protection devices with the voltage and power measurement function have been
supplied recently, their field application is limited due to increasing product prices, additional
space required with the voltage input and increased efforts needed for wiring work. Accura
2700/2750, the Smart Motor Management System shares the voltage data sampled from
the incoming unit of the Motor Control Center (MCC) unit with Accura 2750P[C] in real time
by communicating with the individual motor-unit protection[control] module. Therefore, it
is possible to measure the power of each motor without the need for increased space and
wiring work for the motor unit. This helps to effectively meet the requirements for power
consumption management of the motor and to improve the space efficiency of the MCC.

Accurate Measurement in Compliance with IEC 61557-12 Class 0.5

In order to measure and manage the power consumption of the motor, accurate
measurements under the rated current are required. Accurate measurements of overcurrent
are also required for reliable and accurate motor protection and analysis of the starting
current. Accura 2750P[C] provides current measurement accuracy in compliance with IEC
61557-12 Class 0.5 in all operating ranges from 20% of the minimum configurable rated
current to the maximum rated current that can be set. Accuracy is an essential requirement
for energy saving and preventive maintenance of motors.

Prevents Accidents Caused by Ground Fault through Accurate Measurement of

Ground Current

It is difficult to conduct accurate diagnosis of ground current and effectively prevent accidents
caused by ground current due to the very low accuracy of existing current leakage detectors
used for ground current detection. Motor-Unit Protection[Control] Module Accura 2750P[C]
has a built-in ZCT for accurate measurement of ground current along with a CT for current
measurement. The built-in ZCT is designed to enable accurate measurement of current up
to 20A, providing the ground fault protection function and helping to prevent ground fault
accidents by analyzing the trends of leakage current. In addition, Accura 2750P[C] provides the
residual current value calculated by summing up the values measured by the built-in three-
phase CTs for when a large ground current above 20A flows. Thus, it makes it possible to
prevent a ground fault regardless of the magnitude of ground current. When using external CTs
with Accura 2750P[C]-5A model, the measurement accuracy of ground current(measured by the
ZCT) and residual ground current (the value obtained by summing up three phase CT output) is
not guaranteed in 3 CT connection(3 external CTs) due to the error of the external CT, and the
ground current and residual ground current are not measured even if a ground fault occurs in 2
CT connection (using 2 external CTs).

Two Types of Modules(Protection Module/Protection & Control Module)

Selectable According to Usage Purposes

When configuring the motor-unit of the MCC, it is necessary to decide whether to apply a
module integrating the protection and control functions, or apply the protection module
separately and configure separate units with the control function. The Smart Motor
Management System provides Accura 2750P, the motor-unit protection module which
performs only the protection function and Accura 2750PC, the motor-unit protection &
control module which performs both the protection and control functions. The system also
provides Accura 2750D and Accura 2750DC as the display of the motor-unit. Thus, you can
Protection Module Protection&Control Module select the module that suits your needs according to the MCC configuration.

Diversifies Rated Currents of Motor-Unit Protection[Control] Module for the

MCC’s Space Efficiency and Accurate Measurement

For the MCC’s space efficiency and accurate measurement, we have designed and produced
motor-unit protection[control] modules with various current ratings. Motor-unit protection
modules are classified into 5A, 30A, and 100A models according to the magnitude of the
rated current, and the 5A model with an external CT is applied on the unit with the rated
current over 100A. Motor-unit protection& control modules are classified into 5A, 30A,
100A, 160A, 250A, and 400A models according to the magnitude of the rated current, and
the 5A model with an external CT is applied on the unit with the rated current over 400A.
The 5A and 30A models are designed to minimize volume, considering their low rated current.

Provides Power/Energy by Measuring the Inverter's Output Power in the

Motor-unit driven by the Inverter

In order to measure the inverter's output power in a motor-unit driven by the inverter,
the output voltage and current values of the inverter are required. In addition to Accura
2750PC motor-unit protection control module, Accura 2750INV/VOL module which can
measure the inverter output voltage is used to provide the inverter's output voltage,
current, power and energy. Accura 2750INV/VOL module supports a separate RS-485
communication port to communicate with inverters that support RS-485 communication.
Accura 2750INV module also provides additional digital I/O channels to enable a hardwired
interface for the inverter.

Convenient Maintenance

As motors should be run and managed at all times in the industrial field, it is vital to easily
maintain the motor protection device in that it determines the power supply of motors.
Accura 2700/2750 feature various functions and the structure design that improves the
convenience of maintenance. The features that allow for safe and fast maintenance include
the function to modify control logic, the firmware update function through communication,
the Unit-Socket used for communication continuity of other motor units when modules are
withdrawn from the motor-unit for the 2nd and 3rd times, the separated structure of the
control power and the DIO part of Accura 2750P[C](models below 100A).

Supports Device Redundancy with HMI Module

In case that maintaining the operational continuity of the motor is very important, the motor-
unit is configured to shut off the power supply when both motor protection modules detect
a fault condition. Two HMI modules are needed to set up and monitor each motor protection
module. However, in the Smart Motor Management System, two motor-unit protection
modules can be connected to one HMI module, thereby increasing space efficiency and
reducing costs. In addition, by connecting with two integrated modules, Accura 2700D
supports redundancy(Active/Standby) of the integrated modules which are installed in the
incoming-unit and are responsible for communication and control of the entire MCC module.
Accura 2700/2750_Smart Motor Management System

Excellent Field Analysis through Integrated HMI Module with Color Touch TFT
LCD

It is essential to effectively check the operational status of the individual motor and the
MCC and to analyze accidents quickly in the field. The Smart Motor Management System
offers Accura 2700D, the integrated HMI module with 8.5" Wide Type Color Touch TFT LCD
installed in front of the MCC's incoming-unit. With its touch function and exceptional user
interface, Accura 2700D enables real-time analysis of operating conditions, settings, and
events of all motors in the MCC, maximizing the MCC's operational efficiency.

Connection between the MCC and the LOP via Communication for Effective Controls and
Reduced Installation Costs

The existing LOPs and the MCC's motor-unit protection control devices are connected
by multiple analog signal lines. Installation costs are high and preventive maintenance is
difficult due to the connection of many analog signal lines between the MCC and the LOP in
proportion to the number of motor-units.
In the Smart Motor Management System, the LOP control module(Accura 2750LC[I]) is
connected to the integrated incoming-unit module(Accura 2700M) via the LOP control
gateway(Accura 2750LCG). The control command(RUN / STOP) through the front button on
Accura 2750LC[I] is transmitted to Accura 2700M via communication, and Accura 2700M
Accura 2750LC[I] Accura 2750LCG transmits the control command to the corresponding motor-unit protection control module
(Accura 2750PC) via communication. On the contrary, Accura 2750PC monitors the motor's
operational status and transmits the data to Accura 2700M via communication, and Accura
2750LC[I] displays the operation status data received from Accura 2700M. The connection of
the MCC and the LOP through communication greatly reduces the line installation cost, and
also helps users to prevent uncontrolled situations at a critical moment through immediate
error detection and notification when an error occurs in the communication line.

Supports Communication Redundancy with Improved Communication

Reliability between Devices

The integrated incoming-unit module has two external Ethernet communication ports,
an internal communication port for connection with the motor-unit protection & control
module, and two serial communication ports for connection with the LOP control
gateway. The LOP control gateway has four communication ports for connection with
the LOP control module. Since two communication ports are provided respectively, all
communication networks can be configured in a ring so that communication issues can be
solved through two-way communication even when a communication line is disconnected
or broken. In particular, the LOP control gateway can configure two ring networks with four
communication ports, effectively connecting LOP control modules that can be scattered
over long distances. Thus, communication redundancy increases communication reliability
in the field.
04/05

Supports Device Redundancy for the Field that Requires High Reliability

In the field where high reliability is critical, an active-standby redundancy configuration is

required for the continuous operation of devices through which the standby module performs
the function of the device in operation when a failure occurs to the active module. The Smart
Motor Management System supports Active-Standby redundancy of Accura 2700M, the
integrated incoming-unit module and Accura 2750LCG, the LOP control gateway. Active/
Standby Accura 2700M modules share the RS-485 communication network of motor-unit
protection[control] modules simultaneously through the Bridge-Socket for complete device
redundancy. Active/Standby Accura 2750LCG modules also share the RS-485 communication
network of LOP control modules at the same time through the Bridge-Socket.

Provides Setup Manager for All Device Settings and Commissioning through
Communication

Individually setting up and inspecting all devices installed in the MCC on site is a demanding
and time-consuming task. The Smart Motor Management System provides Setup Manager, a
program that allows easy setup and commissioning of all connected modules using a computer.
Setup Manager also provides information on fault, alarm, and caution events along with the
setup, instrumentation, and control functions for detailed analysis of accidents occurring during
the operation of motors.

Provides Accura Logic Editor for Flexible Motor Controls

The basic control logic is programmed in the motor-unit protection module, and Accura
Logic Editor is provided for users to change the control logic according to on-site operational
conditions. The control logic editor has editing, debugging, and simulation functions so that
errors in the control logic can be easily changed, saved and restored.

Enables to Implement MCC Level Control Logic

Through Accura Logic Editor, users can create the control logic according to requirements for
the MCC unit and download it to Accura 2700M for proper controls. The control logic operating
in the motor-unit protection & control module is limited to the control of the corresponding
motor-unit only, but the control logic operating in the integrated incoming-unit module enables
interconnected controls between multiple motors in the MCC. In addition, Accura 2700M
module enables interconnected controls between motors in other MCC units by communicating
with other Accura 2700M modules.

Panel Mounting of Unit-Socket/Bridge-Socket

The Unit-Socket can be mounted anywhere in the MCC, but it is useful to mount it near the corresponding motor
unit for effective communication. However, if it is mounted inside the motor unit, it can affect the communication
of other motor units when the motor unit is withdrawn. Thus it should not be installed inside the motor unit.
On the other hand, the Bridge-Socket is needed for Active/Standby redundancy of Accura 2700M or Accura
2750LCG. For redundancy of Accura 2700M, it should be mounted near Accura 2700M in the MCC incoming-unit.
For redundancy of Accura 2750LCG, it should be mounted inside the LOP where Accura 2750LCG is mounted.
You can mount the Unit-Socket/Bridge-Socket on the panel with screws or mount the module on a DIN rail. 2
fixing wings are used to mount the module on the panel.

Device Features
Accura 2700M Integrated Incoming-Unit Module

Mounted at the MCC incoming-unit, Accura 2700M performs the main function of the Smart Motor
Management System. It measures the power consumed at the entire MCC by sensing the voltage/current of
the incoming line and the power of the individual motor-unit by sending the sampled voltage data to all Accura
2750P[C] modules connected with the internal communication cable.

Through the cable, it delivers/receives measurement and motor control commands and operating status data
to/from multiple Accura 2750P[C] modules at the MCC. It also sends/receives those data to/from multiple
Accura 2750LC[I] modules at the LOP(Local Operating Panel) through Accura 2750LCG. By sending this data
to Accura 2700D, the Incoming-Unit Integrated HMI Module, it allows users to check the operation state
of all motors in front of the MCC panel. It is connected to the host system through Ethernet and RS-485
communication.

Accura 2750P[C] Motor-Unit Protection[Control] Module

Installed at the individual motor unit in the MCC, Accura 2750P mainly protects the motor by measuring the current
supplied to the motor. It also measures the various power characteristics of the individual motor-unit based on
the current signal data measured by the built-in CT and the voltage signal data received from Accura 2700M via
communication. For a motor-unit driven by an inverter, it measures the various power characteristics of the individual
motor unit by receiving the sampled output voltage data of the inverter processed with the Low Pass Filter(LPF) from

Accura 2750LC[I] LOP Control Module

Accura 2750LC[I] is the digital control module for the LOP[Local Operating Panel] that substitutes the existing
LOPs consisting of the push button, lamp, selection switch, and current meter. Accura 2750LC performs motor
control commands at the field and displays the operational status and measurement data on the motor via
communication with Accura 2700M through Accura 2750LCG. Along with the functions of Accura 2750LC,
Accura 2750LCI provides the INVERTER/BYPASS buttons on the front for the operation of the inverter.

In the existing LOPs, once the RUN/STOP command is executed by pressing the push button, it is sent
to Accura 2750PC through the signal cable connected with the contact point of the push button and the
digital input of the corresponding Accura 2750PC. However, when pressing the RUN/STOP button on Accura
2750LC[I], the control command is sent to Accura 2700M through Accura 2750LCG. Accura 2700M performs
the RUN/STOP command by sending the command to Accura 2750PC of the corresponding motor-unit
through communication. This communication method is beneficial since a single communication cable replaces
multiple signal cables connecting the MCC to the LOP at the existing system. It allows users to easily identify
the disconnection and short-circuit state of the cable.

Accura 2750LCG supports communication redundancy through ring connection using 2 communication ports
on Accura 2750LC[I].

Function
Connection with Accura 2750LCG
Accura 2750LCG performs the gateway function between Accura 2700M and Accura 2750LC[I].
The command of the corresponding motor-unit at the LOP is transmitted to Accura 2750PC through Accura 2750LCG and Accura 2700M.
Current, power, and operational status data on the corresponding motor-unit are transmitted from Accura 2750PC to
Accura 2750LC[I] through Accura 2700M and Accura 2750LCG.

Unit-Socket

One Accura 2700M module and multiple Accura 2750P[C] modules are connected through communication.
The Category 5e FTP, STP, or SFTP Ethernet cable is used for high reliability and convenience. Accura 2700M
should be connected with Accura 2750P[C] modules of individual motor units with the Daisy-chain method.
However, the Unit-Socket is provided for convenience in installing communication cables and withdrawing
motor units. A single Ethernet cable is also used to connect the Unit-Socket and Accura 2750P[C]. It makes it
easy to disconnect the communication line when withdrawing motor units.

Function
Easy Connection of Internal Communication Cables
As Accura 2750P[C] modules are connected through the Unit-Socket with communication cables, it is easy to disconnect the cables when
withdrawing a motor unit with Accura 2750P[C]. Even if the cable is disconnected, it does not affect communication of other motor units.
