How to approach for training or internship?

1. Approaching a public university, research centre starts six months before the actual date

of commencement of training preferably in October for training in June of next year. You

should contact through mail explaining your interest in his work and what you will do in

his/her lab, techniques learned. Always remember to show your interest in his line of

work. For e.g. Scientist working in Plant science will not entertain student with interest in

Animal related project. Be very careful in this aspect of communication. If possible, you

can also make a visit to concerned scientist, faculty for training and request face to face.

Don’t forget to take your resume with you when planning for visit.

2. Now, the question arises, how one will know, what is the area of work or research of

concerned faculty or scientist. The area of research or work will be listed on his/her

personal webpage on Institute website under faculty/People section of concerned

department. Acquaint yourself with his work and interest and drop a mail or plan a visit

in person.
 Always remember, landing an internship or training in Government sector is tough and

you may sometime need to mail over 200+ people to get it. So, key to success is start

early, plan and don’t get dishearten.

 For Private organization, always ask for technique that one will learn after completion of

training, and always try to engage yourself in project related training. Since you are

paying for service, always try to learn diligently.
