To whom this may concern,

My name is Jerod Packard, and I found your listing for a Farm Crew and Harvester on Oregon Farm Link,
and am very interested in the position! In August of last year, I began taking an interest in growing
houseplants. This interest quickly grew (oh yes, pun very much so intended) into a passion, and as of now
I am sitting at 100 strong. And while I adore tending to this collection, it has sparked within me the desire
to learn more about outdoor gardening, as I can tell it would be an even more rewarding experience. This
is what led me to my search for opportunities that could aid in this development of horticultural skills and
knowledge, and thus, found your listing.

Beyond my interest in the field, I believe that I would make for an excellent addition to the Little Wings
Farm family for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I absolutely love the outdoors. A couple of my favorite
pastimes are hiking, archery, and drawing, reading, or playing ukulele and singing by the Willamette
River. Secondly, I am a very driven and detail-oriented individual. These traits result in a very hard
worker, who is self motivated and strives to do the best job possible. If able, I try to improve my work by
looking for more accurate and efficient ways of completing tasks, and am always ready to assist team
members. Before moving back to Oregon in August, I lived in Des Moines, Iowa for 4 years pursuing a
degree in Musical Theatre. While the degree itself didn’t work out the way I wanted, the years working in
an ensemble and team environment has fostered a comfort in these settings, and a willingness to jump in
when needed. I am a very dedicated individual as well, and will give my all to learning every facet of
what I am passionate about. I am lucky as this makes me a very fast learner, but be prepared to be asked a
lot of questions! Whatever I am doing, I want to learn all there is to know, resulting in a knowledgeable
and studious worker.

My employment background is mostly customer service, and most specifically food service. I believe
customer service is something I excel at, which is perfect for any tasks related to interactions with
vendors, everyday customers on the farm, or anything with your produce stand. I also have been
employed at Gray’s Garden Center for about three and a half months, which has furthered my retail
knowledge, and also given me more hands on experience in the nursery realm. During this time, I have
gained more familiarity with outdoor flora, which has been very exciting! However, I still have not had
the ability to gain more hands on experience cultivating these myself, and am dying to get the chance.

The atmosphere of the farm and staff itself also seems like a wonderful fit for me. There is a very inviting
energy that you all have created, and your “who we are” page is an incredible representation of it. From
the fun group picture at the top, the biographies that allow insight into the team, to the star of the show
himself Sockmo, all I could think was, “This is somewhere I want to learn, grow, and invest in.”

In summary, I believe that my passion for this industry, my work experience, as well as my characteristics
make me a wonderful candidate for this position. While my hands on experience and horticultural
knowledge may be a little lacking, I know that my tenacious attitude towards learning, and my ability to
catch on quickly will make me an asset to your farm and team. I want to thank you so much for your time
and consideration, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Most sincerely,
Jerod Packard
