Experiment No:-01 To verify Superposition theorem. Page 1 of 2

Aim: To verify Superposition theorem.

Apparatus Required:
S.No. Apparatus required Range QUANTITY
1. Resistors 1kΩ 3
2. Regulated Power Supply 0-30V 2
3. Voltmeter 0-50V DC 2
4. Ammeter 100 mA 1
5. Digital Multimeter - 1
6. Connecting Wires - As per requirement

Theory: It can be stated as if a number of voltage or current sources are acting in a linear network,
the resulting current in any branch is the algebraic sum of all the currents that would be produced in
it, when each source acts alone, all the other independent sources are replaced by their internal
resistances. It is only applicable to the circuit which is valid for the ohm’s law (i.e., for the linear
circuit).

PROCEDURE:

1. Connect the circuit as shown in fig. 1 and note down the current flowing through R3 and
let it be I.
2. Connect the circuit as shown in fig. 2 and note down the ammeter Reading, and let it be
I1.

4. Verify for I = I1+I2.
5. Compare the practical and theoretical currents.
