Cadillac SRX 2013 Removal and Replacement Procedure:

SUNROOF SUNSHADE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1.

NOTE
Note
It is Not necessary to remove the sunroof assembly to replace the sunshade.

2. Open the sunshade to the fully open position.


3. Remove the window. Refer to Sunroof Window Replacement - Rear.
4. It is only necessary to lower the headliner. Only do those step in headliner replacement
that will lower the headliner enough to gain access to the part. Refer to Headlining Trim
Panel Replacement (With C3U) | Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (Without C3U).

6. Remove the sunshade leading edge stiffener (1) by pulling it out of the front of the cable
assembly clips (2).
7. Unlock the tabs (3) on the cable assembly clip (2) in order to pull the sunroof sunshade
guide (4) rearward out of the cable assembly clip (2) on each side of the sunshade
assembly.

9. Remove the sunroof sunshade guides (1) from the sunshade by sliding them out from
under the sunshade material fold (2) towards the center of the vehicle.

11. Release the cable guides tabs (1) located at each corner of the sunshade (2) .
12. Allow the sunshade to return to a hard stop and release the tension .

14. Remove the screws (1) that retain the sunshade bracket (2) to the sunroof assembly (3).
15. Remove the sunshade with the sunshade bracket from the vehicle as a assembly.

NOTE
Note
If the sunshade spring releases, it will be necessary to rewind it. Refer to step two in the install
procedure.
A new service part sunshade comes pre-loaded with a pin tool holding spring tension on the sunshade.
If the sunshade spring releases, it will be necessary to rewind it and reinstall the pin tool. Following
installation procedure, retain the pin tool for future applications.

18. Move the sunshade (1) until the sunshade cam locking hole (2) come in to view.
19. Insert a suitable tool (3) into the sunshade cam locking hole.
20. Push inward on the end tab (4) releasing the sunshade end lock (5) from the sunshade
bracket (6).

22. Remove the screw (1) from the passengers side of the sunshade bracket (2).
23. Remove the sunshade from sunshade bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE
Note
If the sunshade spring released turn the sunshade roller end slot 16 times in the counterclockwise
direction. Insert a suitable tool into the sunshade cam locking hole.

3. Install the sunshade to the sunshade bracket by insert the end of the sunshade (1) to the
driver side sunshade bracket (2), press downward until it lock in place.

Caution
Refer to Fastener Caution.

6. Install the sunshade bracket screw (1) to the passengers side of the sunshade
bracket (2) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
7. Remove the suitable tool from the sunshade cam locking hole.

9. Install the screws (1) that retain the sunshade bracket (2) to the sunroof assembly (3) and
tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in)

11. Install the cable guides tabs (1) located at each corner of the sunshade (2) and lock in
place.

13. Pull the sunshade leading edge stiffener (1) evenly, slightly past the front of the cable
assembly clips (2) .

15. Install the sunroof sunshade guides (1) into the fold of the sunshade material (2) to the
rear of the cable assembly clips.

17. Slide the sunroof sunshade guides (4) onto the assembly clips (3) until they lock into
place while ensuring they are installed in the fold of the sunshade material.
18. Install the sunshade leading edge stiffener (1) into the front of the cable assembly
clips (2). The leading edge stiffener folds into place.
19. Ensure that the sunshade cam is fully seated in the sunshade bracket and the sunshade
slides smoothly.
20. Install the sunroof window. Refer to Sunroof Window Replacement - Rear.
21. Install the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (With
C3U) | Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (Without C3U).
22. Ensure that the sunroof sunshade and window operation properly. Refer to Sunroof
Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process.
