Yes, it is important to learn the pre-colonial literature of the Philippines due to the fact
that it portrays as a living language. It gives us insight to the bases of the literary prose
displayed during the Spanish colonization. It introduces real life situations within the experiential
of the youth to the featured literary pieces. This is bringing us into such issues as environmental
awareness, peace education and others.

2. How can these pre-colonial forms of literature be of use to your life right now?
The forms of literature really lend a helping hand for me to build my knowledge not only
in improving my imagination but as well as my high communication skills as a result in
becoming a good speaker, having a better reading comprehension, writing ability and it enhanced
my logical way of thinking. It taught me about the historical stories of our ancestors. By this, it
inspired me to follow what our ancestors did before as they remain as our role models. Hence, It

taught me about human life experiences that taught me to not take everything for granted and to
live my life to the fullest.

3. What do you think are the lessons you can get from the different forms of literature? Do you
think lessons that literature teach you can be useful in your daily life? How?
There are lots of lessons that we can get from the different forms of literature, I believe
that it is useful in our daily lives. Though it is physically written in words, but these words come
alive in our imagination from human tragedies to tales. In my point of view, Literature taught me
to learn through a person’s victory and defeat situations, the way they interact with their
sufferings made me realize that I have to be stronger than I am, that I should face my fears
bravely.”The process of being strong is a win”. In addition to this, I have learned to anticipate
things more and I keep my faith stronger just like our ancestors taught us, those are the lessons
that I am applying to my everyday life.
