ADVANTAGE/DISADVANTAGE ESSAY

Today, many countries are spending lots of money on investigating space.

Do the advantages outweigh its disadvantages?

In a fast-moving world, there is a commonly held view that several states are allocating a great
deal of finance to the exploration of the cosmos. I firmly believe that the benefits stemming
from this outweigh its possible downsides in terms of number. In the forthcoming paragraphs,
several rock-solid facts lending weight to my perspective will be outlined, along with a few
relevant examples.

To begin with, it is a well-known fact that there are two biggest advantages arising from space
exploration, one of which is that it is possible to discover new planets where there is a sign of
life. To illustrate this, after a thousand years, people may have to move to other planets
because natural resources are diminishing due to an increasing world population. Another
undeniable and long-term plus point lies in the fact that scientists are now able to forecast
potential dangers to Earth by observing space. This can be best exemplified by the latest news,
which reveals that more than ten asteroids were eliminated before they reached Earth.

At the other end of the scale, it is worth bearing in mind that spending money on the cosmos
is not devoid of some major drawbacks. One of the most potential drawbacks is the reduction
in the government’s budget, which could be better spent on basic human needs such as health
care, education, and public transport. The second biggest disadvantage may be illustrated by
the fact that the ozone layer is being penetrated at an alarming rate because of the launches of
rockets. As a consequence, the balance of climate and ecology is being disrupted.

The main conclusion to be drawn from this essay is that even though space exploration can be
justified owing to the merits it brings to humans, it should be noted that a few shortcomings
derive from this.

DISCUSSION ESSAY
Nowadays many people think that the government should decrease the age of retirement
while others are not in favor of this idea.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

In a fast-moving world, there is a widely held view that the authorities ought to reduce the
retirement age whereas other individuals do not agree with the statement mentioned above. I
firmly believe that both points of view are worth being discussed. In the forthcoming
paragraphs, several rock-solid facts lending weight to my perspective will be outlined together
with relevant examples.

To commence with, it is a well-known fact that there are at least two supporting reasons why
early retirement should be encouraged, one of which is that they would have more time for
their interests or hobbies. To illustrate this, for the rest of their lives, more opportunities would
be available for them to travel overseas to enjoy nature wonders as well as breathtaking
landscapes. Another undeniable and clear reason lies in the fact that they are likely to have
adequate time to perform physical exercises, helping them to be in good shape.

At the other end of the scale, it is worth bearing in mind that this notion cannot be always
justified owing to its harmful effects on not solely governments, but also humans. The first
thing to mention is financial issues, which may arise due to the lack of budget. This can be best
exemplified by the data collected in several countries, which shows that more than 30 percent
of the government budget went into the pensions of the retired over 50s, which posed a great
threat to its economy.

The main conclusion to be drawn from this essay is that even though there are many
commonly held claims to support both views, I do believe that the benefits and drawbacks
deriving from this are equal.

Some people believe that professional athletes serve as positive role models for young
people, while others argue that their behavior both on and off the field can have a negative
influence.
Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

Some people believe that reading is always a good habit. Others feel it depends on which
books a person is reading.
Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.

In some countries, companies allow people to work from home. In others, people are still
expected to work in an office.
