Second Semester 2023-2024

Day by day, the challenge for teachers becomes more
complex as the world progresses in this digital era.
Education, as a large part of the society that prepares
students to become global citizens, must cope with
this challenge. Thus, teachers must have good
pedagogical, content, and technological knowledge
and skills that they will use to deliver quality
education to their students.

1. What is technology integration in education?
2. Which learning theory treats learning as a response to stimulus and
conditions students to react to stimuli?
3. What is the main focus of cognitivism?
4. What is the suggestion of the theory of constructivism regarding the
use of language in teaching?
5. How can technology support the constructionist approach in teaching?
6. Which theory believes that the process and goals of learning in a highly
networked and connected world are different than learning in the
predigital world?
Question:
What is technology?

Select three terms from the list and compose your answer to
the question:

COLLECTION of USE of gadgets,
gadgets, tools tools and
and equipment equipment

It also includes machineries, modifications,

arrangements, and procedures.
Task: Write a paragraph explaining why a teacher is a highly
promising technology. Use the frame below:

• I know why a teacher is a…

• One reason is…
• A second reason is…
• Last,…
• For these three reasons, I know why…
The teacher facilitates learning through the:
• use of varied instructional materials (e.g. gadgets)
• creation of situations through a repertoire of teaching
methods and strategies
• application of learning theories, repeated practices and
evaluation of instruction
• use of visual, verbal, sound, and manipulative technology

How will this happen?

How can technology support meaning-making by

students?
Technology is more than hardware.
Learning technologies can be any
environment or definable set of
activities.

Technologies are not simply

conveyors or communicators or
meaning.
Technologies support learning.
Interactions with technologies are
conceptually and intellectually
engaging.

Technologies should function as

intellectual tool kits to build more
personal meanings.
Learners and technologies should be
intellectual partners in the learning
process.

Question: How can technologies be the intellectual partners of

students in the learning process?
What is ICT?
• ICT means ____________________ and __________________ technology. It
refers to forms of ______________________ that are used to transmit,
process, store, create, display, share or exchange _________________ by
electronic means.
Which of the following refers to educational
technology?
A: It covers a narrow field dealing with all types of teaching
and learning.
B: It embraces all areas of technology in any field of
education.
C: It includes practical techniques of instructional delivery
that systematically aim for effective learning.
• Also called as Instructional Systems Design, it involves a
systematic process for the assessment and development of
training solutions, designed specifically for the purpose of
formal training delivery.

• ADDIE Model is one of the two widely used instructional

design model which could be applied in development of
tools used in the teaching-learning process.
• The other one is Agile Model.
• eLearning, or electronic learning, is the delivery of
learning and training through digital resources.
Although eLearning is based on formalized learning, it is
provided through electronic devices such as computers,
tablets and even cellular phones that are connected to the
internet.

It can be seen that education has adopted and adapted
technology over a long period of time. There are some useful
lessons to be learned from past developments in the use of
technology for education, in particular that many claims
made for a newly emerging technology are likely to be
neither true nor new.
Also new technology rarely completely replaces an older
technology. Usually the old technology remains, operating
within a more specialised ‘niche’, such as radio, or integrated
as part of a richer technology environment, such as video in
the Internet.

However, what distinguishes the digital age from all
previous ages is the rapid pace of technology
development and our immersion in technology-
based activities in our daily lives. Thus, it is fair to
describe the impact of the Internet on education as a
paradigm shift, at least in terms of educational
technology. We are still in the process of absorbing
and applying the implications.
